  • Went to both of these games. The boxing game was freezing and was a shocker
Think we may have been in the same car!

  • They scored from a pen, but we missed two. Interestingly they had missed something like six pens on the trot in the run up to that game, they scored one and we missed two.

When their player was sent off my Dad screamed "Go on. F**c off!" one of only two times I've ever heard him swear in anger.
  • battle of roots hall should have said battle of spread eagle and forresters, spread eagle before the game forresters after.

  • Someone must have the vhs for the 91/92 season?
  • Not the Curbishley send off game but the Boxing Day nine man fiasco when we lost 4-2; I think three players who had played or were to play for Charlton scored for Southend...Keith Jones, Jason Lee and Ricky Otto. Also in the Southend team that day..Gary Poole, Chris Powell (and Simon Royce on the bench). Is that a record?

We were for the 1st game it seems a long time ago now

  • Some good away days at Southend down the years.

Was at penalties game and the Brown in goal game. Remember Ronnie Whelan (then Southend manager) trying to get the game re-started while Steve Brown was still changing into the keepers kit on the sideline.

AS RS said Leaburn's goal when he took about 10 seconds jinking this way and that was great. I think Chris Powell was one of the players he beat on the line.

I still remember you saying that John Humphrey would be resigning for us as we went over the QEII bridge for the first time.
