Shite this is it

I have enjoyed this season no end. For the first time tonight I have looked at the fixture list.Mentally working out how we are going to get the necessary points for promotion. Just the thought of it has knotted my stomach. I know I will no longer enjoy the rest of this season.

January has now gone, 3 months to go, let's hope our strength in depth comes to the the fore. I still think a few loan signings will arrive.Come on Charlton please, please see it through this time.

  • Oh Steve. You need help love.

    Enjoy it!
  • i cant B I really want to, I feel sick after studying the fixture list
  • Hahaha

It's all gonna fall apart Steve, dooooomed I tell thee
  • Who on the fixture list has given you the heebie-jeebies, NSS?
  • Being a pessimist I always believe that things important to me are going to go tits up. As everything else in my life is sweet I guess that leaves Charlton to mess things up.
My heart says we'll do it but a little voice in my head keeps whispering 'you're going to blow it, you're going to blow it'.

I feel your pain my brother.
  • I'm still covinced that we're going to #### up aswell. I won't celebrate until we're presented with the trophy.

Can I nominate the GilbertFilbert/DaveMehmet exchange above as the best gag of the season? I'm sure they must have worked it up in cahoots between them. Much too good to have been spontaneous...

Meanwhile, calm down, Steve. We are the best team in the division, so take heart from the fact that even though we scare ourselves at times, the enemy are truly terrified of us !
  • I don't understand. The pressure is making it unenjoyable or are there a few teams that you think will do us?
  • Twice in a week me and SE10 have shared viewpoints! Charlton Athletic surely is a great unifier.

No, Dave was just too good for me!

For me the pressure, 100%. Usually I handle stress but sometimes I'd rather have mid-table mediocrity :(

He just pretends he's a misery (an does a great job of it). On Saturday you should have seen his little smiling face, he loves it really.
  • Dave mehmet shocker... a joke that was funny and it wasn't a double entendre!
  • I'm a pessimist where Charlton are concerned and with good reason over the last 35 years supporting ...... So although I don't think we are playing particularly well and scraping through the odd game, the opposition seems to do exactly the same as I lead at the top has just got better. So even if we stumble I don't think the others are capable of making up such a big gap and their consistency is certainly no better. But I still won't believe until mathematically impossible not to win the league.

    Its Shocking B !!!
  • Two words mate: One Aim

    :-)
  • Charlton
    nail on the head Russ

  • I've just remembered our eternal pessimist looked so happy he could shit crisps on Sky and The football league show where he could be seen quite clearly embracing @plaaayer in front of the players celebrating

  • Steve, i'm with you 100% and know exactly where you are coming from.
  • Two years ago I was more hoping we'd go up, knew we'd need a bit of luck along the way.

This season we have a bigger and better squad, if we have a few injuries and need players we'll bring some in on loan. If anyone needs a rest or deserves to be dropped Powell will do it.

Still a way to go, but 9 wins with a few draws and we'll be there. Am confident we'll do it. This feels different to the last 5/6 years, feels like a club on the up.

I think your issue is that you haven't been able to see us away from home enough this season. If you had then you would have seen we look comfortable. It's easier because the opposition can't play with an 11 man defence at home.

I'm 99% confident, we'll go up. We are the best & I don't see how that will change.
  • You're not fooling me Steve!
  • As Karen and I gazed at the table on the BBC texty thing this morning I said "I think we will make the play offs". We both laughed; but somewhere, deep, deep down inside, a tiny bit of me shuddered...

It will be fine. You'll see. BWP will start scoring again, the midfield will pick up their service once Stephens is fully fit, JJ will carry on knocking them in and the defence will stand firm as always (I'm still worried about Hamer though)....We'll be up well before the end of the season and then everyone can start worrying about next year!
  • Worrying about promotion is much more fun than worrying about relegation...

If anyone can blow it we can
Dress it up how you want but the last two months results wise have been magnificent , performance wise , I haven't been so convinced
    Fine margins and all that
We have won not playing well
We "could" start losing/drawing whilst playing well and the way that chasing pack don't relent 4 dodgy results and they'll be right up our pooper
I'm hoping those views are due to my pessimistic nature and my default position is think negative and everything else is a monster bonus
On a different level and nowhere near as likely to happen but when we were "5th" you just knew we weren't playing as well as a "5th" place team should be and eventually that caught up on us
I don't think in recent months we've been playing like a team 10pts clear
All the above is clear wibbleness and fear and taking the emotional attachment out of the equation we will/should piss going up
    Anyway sleep well NSS

Ooohaaah, you have summarised my own feelings perfectly!
  • I understand what you mean now. The feeling of nerves before the Swindon play-off game and against Huddersfield and Wednesday this season weren't enjoyable, but the feeling of relief after two out of the three games went our way was fantastic. In the championship winning season of 99/00 the pressure wasn't as bad as this because most of us were quite content in that league, whereas we're all sick to death of League One now. If (Ha!) we do do it the celebrations will be brilliant!
