I would be surprised if the attendance given was anywhere near the number in the ground. I know it's the tickets sold ( issued), however the figure given would mean that almost every other seat would be empty. I could see a lot more empty seats than ones that were occupied.
I wasn't too impressed with that attendance either, nearly 21,000 for Sheff U, take their 3k off, 18000. so where were the missing 5000 or so tonight?? at home as it was bit cold!!! Bet they will be there on a Spring day in May clapping their "cold" hands at home to Hartlepool!!!!!!!!!
It was a poor game, on a freezing Tuesday evening so the attendance doesn't surprise me. Before our goal even I was wishing I was at home.... but glad I saw Stephens smash that home!

I see your point oohaah but you gotta take your hat to off to all fans that turn out on a cold midweek night to watch a div 3 game against not exactly exciting opposition....... And to be honest the amount pro footballers get paid nowadays I see it as their job to lift us with their performances.
some of you must be bloody rich or just single cos i cant afford to buy 4 tickets twice for 2 matches in the same week!!! and add travel food drinks etc on top of that adds up to over £250 in one week so dont judge people on there comitment as lots probally just cant afford it?
Let's be honest, it was always likely to be a lowish gate for a rearranged game v unglamorous opponents on a freezing school night. The other two S. London games last night surely show it in a better light.
A lot of damage has been done over a prolonged period by the attitude of the likes of Marcus Bent, but thankfully our home crowds are well on the way back. Still room for improvemet away but even that's improving. Think that just might be covered on another thread...
did get a remortgage and hit the credit cards 2 buy 4 season tickets that sumhow i end up paying for even though my sons have good jobs! and they didnt even offer any petrol money last night ! though one did buy hot chockies !

The MK Dons ticket are £10 and Stevenage £5 --prices don not make sense --the other way round would attract another 2000 at the Rochdale game.

Yes, it is expensive, but equally you don't get the level of response if you attach offers to the least attractive games. Bury would have been OK on Jan 7th when it was due to be played; you wouldn't have been able to pull in that many extra by discounting it last night.
As for Rochdale, there is an offer out there for this match but it is a targeted one aimed at a specific group of lapsed STs, rather than all supporters. Plus we have invited extra schools on Saturday.
MK Dons is at half term, hence there is more chance of the price offer working in midweek. But we cannot attach offers to every game in this division in fairness to season ticket holders. Some games - whether Sheff United at one end of the scale or Bury at the other - will have to sink or swim on their own merits.

What price do you think would have been right last night? We can only do so many offers in fairness to season-ticket holders. It's pointless doing them when they won't make much difference. I am not sure that even if the tickets had been £10/£5 last night it would have added more than about 2,000 to the gate and that would have cost the club money.
Bear in mind also that a lot of season ticket holders were not there, i.e. their ticket was effectively free in that they had paid already and they were still unable/unwilling to attend. In other words even they could not be priced in at zero additional cost.
Incidentally, the correct attendance was 13,864 - not 13,264, which I believe is what was put on the screen.

I know we played on Valentines day before - Plymouth in 2009 but it was a weekend.
I know we are limited in the offers Department as it can't be cheaper not to buy a season ticket- that variable has always got to be there. We don't schedule the games, but wouldn't see it as a reason to move it anyway. There are 35 Football League matches scheduled that night and Arsenal play AC Milan live on television the following night, which would probably be a bigger negative.

Agree Airman, I just wish that we could have some midweek games on a Wednesday so I could attend.
Of course a lot of the bigger crowds and more attractive games are made up of longer distance support such as myself and family. To be honest even free tickets for last nights game would not have persuaded me because cost of travel alone is over £100 plus beer, burgers etc. Also a school night so lots of parents with kids either cant attend or arrive home too late, in my case 2am after a midweek fixture. I suppose what im trying to say is probably just as well some of the less appealing fixtures are midweek so the families and larger numbers can make for bigger crowds at bigger games such as Sheffield.
