  • Charlton=Kent.
    Palace = Surrey
Charlton = Kent? You what? Because we attract support further than Penge. You two bob note, your fans only turn up when it's a big game, which is once a decade. Look at your average gate, it's pathetic.

Palace I would put on par with millsmall.

Have I misinterpretated someone having a pop at us?

    Yes
  • I think so.
  • you bastard Crayaddick
  • you real bastard Crayaddick
  • My ranking was not scientific and agree if anyone has the time we should look at a formula .

Factors should include attendances , seasons in respective divisions ,previous honours and the current position must also be factored in , we cannot claim in League One that we have the same prestige as five years ago when we were in the Prem . Therefore it is fluid which is why I clustered them .

Ten years ago I would have put Chelsea alongside West Ham but below Spurs , but clearly following the Abramovic years they would probably go ahead of Tottenham and if they were to win the Champions League possibly even challenge Arsenal as London's top side .

The reason I placed the Wombles above Barnet and Dagenham was because their crowds are almost twice as big and I think we need to acknowledge the traditions of the old Wimbledon whilst accepting it is a new club as old Wimbledon would have been higher in the pecking order .
  • Biggest factor is attendance and i'd say spurs, if they had the capacity, would easily have bigger attendances than Chelsea, 2nd only to Arsenal who i think are way out in front as London's biggest.
  • I think that Spurs are just as well supported as Arsenal. If they had a 60,000 capacity stadium they would fill it.

Also West Ham are easily as well supported as Chelsea if not better.

I would put Charlton, Palace Millwall and QPR in the second bracket with very little splitting them in terms of size of the club.

Anyway it is what it is and doesn't really matter, for me there's only one club in London and I'm sure Orient, brentford fans etc would say the same thing!!

  • I would take 1 Charlton/ Millwall/ palace/ West Ham fan over an entire city of the new breed of Arsenal and Chelsea fans every time.

Millwall are not in the second bracket and i think they'd agree.

So you would put them in with Brentford, Orient etc???

Fulham would also be in the second tier.
  • I didn't start the bracket thing but i'd say palace and qpr are arguably in a similar bracket to us, millwall are somewhere between that and the Brentford, Orient bracket.
  • just looking at post-war seasons in the top flight should be a reasonable indicator, 24 for us
  • Tottenham fan at my work just put Palace & QPR higher than us claiming they had spent more recent history in Premier League, spurs fans you gotta just love em ain't ya. (Shakes Head)
  • Just go and tell the lump to carry on hoovering or moving the heavy stuff from one side of the office to the other !
  • It is very easy to see the biggest- look at home fan attendances - I would put us firmly above Palarse, QPR and Fulham. Not always been so agree it is fluid although I think not as fluid as it used to be. I think Folev's list is spot on at the moment.
  • Based on tangibles like crowd size, achievements, years in the top flight etc we are not quite in the same bracket as QPR, Charlton & Palace.

We could get into that bracket if things were to actually go right for a few years.

If we went on who would be better known across the world, well, obviously our fans great work at enhancing the reputation of Millwall would see us rise quickly up the list....

  • You are miles behind West Ham and always will be whilst the media is full of the vermin twats who continue to perpetuate the legend of "The Academy" and how they won the world cup.

  • Thank you all for the compliments.

Thought we had a palace supporter among the ranks.

Obviously it depends on what criteria you pick. I had a go ranking them using some easy to find data in Rothmans. Don't think I've got it right though, as I'd have never said that Chelsea were bigger than Arsenal. I think it gives a fair reflection of where we are though:

    @Stig decent effort

Would swap QPR & Fulham round and Wimbledon & Brentford
You give Wimbledon credit for their past re highest league position & trophies but not record attendance or transfer paid, if you did, this would see them past Brentford.
  • Wimbledon's records were a hotchpotch of the old and new. Not very satisfactory I know, but all I had to hand.
  • Based on the number of seasons spent in the Top Flight of English Football...

    Arsenal 95
    Tottenham Hotspur 77
    Chelsea 77
    West Ham United 54
    Charlton Athletic 26
    Fulham 23
    Queens Park Rangers 21
    Wimbledon 14
    Crystal Palace 13
    Watford 8
    Brentford 5
    Millwall 2
    Leyton Orient 1

  • Twice as many as palace, no wonder they're more concerned with Brighton.
  • should probably concentrate on post-war
still according to that, Millwall are on a par with Darwen
