What you must remember is that in the book, the 3 films and the TV adaption the journey for Hannay was never straight forward but it always turned out alright in the end.
4 wins and 2 draws from last 9 matches needed. Just the 9 Teams can catch us now:
our current form doesn't, at the moment, suggest that we're going to win too many games, but hopefully at least one of the Sheffield clubs will drop enough points so that another half dozen points could be enough.
Will be down to 4 on Saturday evening if we win and Carlisle and Stevenage both lose. If that does happen we'll be guranteed a Play-Off place at least.
One Win and Two Draws for the 93 points and meaning that Wednesday (because of our vastly superior GD) would have to win all five of their remaining matches to overhaul us.
That would give us a total of 93 points and almost certainly Promotion. The highest 2nd place total in the last 20 years for League 1 was Southampton's tally of 92 last season with the average being 86 (32 needed) and the lowest 79 (just 25 required).
To put it another way, at worst, if we win all of the remaining 12 home games and just one away from the Valley we can afford to lose all of the other 9 matches.
COYR you know you can do it!
93 points was indeed the target. Ask Sheffield United who would have been promoted on GD ;-)

And 12 more points for the title.
But of course, promotions are not won by predictions!
