No point paying his wages for a extra week for no reason.
Can see why Russell is staying, Alonso hasn't proved his fitness, Stephens has had an ankle op and I remember reading last season he had a few injuries even though he's young his fitness record hasn't been brilliant
Would like to see him play the Hughes type role, sitting allowing JJ and Hollands to bomb on more - he has only played alonside JJ once and that was Orient, strong midfield IMO
Hope Russell improves with games, especially his partnership with Hollands.
So far he's done a job but nothing to get excited about. Despite him being a more all round player than Hughes it's not actuallyimproved the football we've played just yet.

Russell is one of those players often under-estimated. Anyone who has played at a decent level of football will see the quality others miss, i.e. good footballing brain/engine. I watched him closely down at Yeovil and realised he was a bloody good player. Game of opinnions, but a very astute move by SCP in my book
I think they are both very good additions to the squad therefore having Russell for the rest of the season is a brilliant signing!Like Melrose said, I think Russells qualities are extremely underestimated. Very good footballing brain who will only get better for us!
Preston midfielder Darel Russell has signed an extension to his loan deal at Charlton to keep him at the Addicks until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old, who arrived at The Valley on a three-month deal in November, has made five appearances for the side, scoring once.
Russell told the club website: "I'm enjoying what I'm doing here.
"And when you start a focus in something you always want to be there to finish it."
The former Norwich man had made just four appearances for North End this season before heading to Charlton.
He added: "I just want to go and play week in, week out, and that's what I've known all through my career.
"It was a very disheartening time at Preston with the situation that I was in but I've come and been given the opportunity [at Charlton] to go out there and play in the last few games and I'm loving every minute of it."
He (Hogan) looks a good player but would he get a regular game? I'd rather have JJ as a starter at the moment and we have Evina who can't make the bench who can play in that position if needs be. Having some depth in the squad is all well and good but it can create problems if players don't get regular games.

Think Powell likes Pritchard more than both of them.
So do I. Hogan and Russel are still both class though.
Russel is great cover for Hollands but unlike Hughes, he can't play with Hollands. They're too alike IMO.
I reckon Hulk will sign with us on loan for the rest of the season. He would be great competition for Wagstaff (for a bench spot) and it will also push JJ harder. If there was a player to make JJ work for his LM spot then Hogan is the player to do that.
I'd be happy to see Hogan sign on loan with a view to a permanent deal if we get promoted.

Powell's made it pretty clear he doesn't see Evina as a left winger though. He sees him as a left back who can play on the wing but I don't think he sees him as a proper option there unless there's an injury crisis
I like Russell a lot. Does a lot of unoticed work and is strong in the tackle and good on the ball. Experienced and got the Norwich tee shirt. Invaluable to have that on board as things wind up for the run in. Great bit of business IMHO.

So what other drugs is he on?
" Love is the drug...", Plaaayer.
Simples.

You can never tell what may have happened instead.
Parallel universe and all that ;o)
He's done OK so far. It's not easy for a loanee to come in and instantly perform at his best.
It's even more difficult when the team he joins is top of the league and has set high standards that the fans expect to be reached every game.
He's been there and done it in this division and I'm glad he's with us for the rest of the season.

In tomorrow's paper Hogan Ephraim discusses his future - he would jump at chance to discuss permanent move to #cafc. #qpr
I think if we have the money we should sign him up. Proven at this level, and the one above.

Aye, we have a lot of left wingers :-)
