  • if the loanees stay then i'd say its just a striker that is needed in the window and Schlupp seems to be the most likely from what i can see. Be surprised if Hughes has the hump - he's 34 and must understand the situation surely.
  • waggys off to Brighton
    really?
    thats the rumour

If I was him I would have the hump, he came in and we won 6 out of 6 games with the team scoring 20 goals and conceding 3. unless his injured I find it a really strange decision to drop him.
  • I think Powell's trying to see if he can improve the team with Russell, Hughes clearly not the answer in the long term.

Could do with another striker, Sclupp seems a possibility, but he'd come here expecting to start games, something we can't offer unless BWP is injured or he plays out wide.
  • if i were Cort or Evina, i'd want to be away - no point being on loan and not playing so CP may have to factor that in
  • Hughes wants away ? ... farewell, good luck and don't let the door bang your arse on the way out ... he's gone from Leeds to Scunthorpe to Charlton and has gained a reputation as an argumentative big head along the way .. he's an OK player, not so good as Russell but better than (say) Semedo .. he's 34 and there may well be a few offers for him .. Rochdale? .. Torquay? .. Gillingham ?

Who has said he wants away? Where has he gained this reputation from?

Leeds fans and management held him in very high esteem, Scunthorpe fans never rated him. I think the last thing you could accuse Hughes of being is a trouble maker.

Powell said he wasn't happy about being dropped vs Huddersfield. I'd make him right. We'd won the previous 7 games, he was an integral part of the team in that period and he was dropped for a bloke who hadn't played for how ever long.

    Fantasy land.

Think he's meant to be very passionate doesn't make you a trouble maker
  • Can't hide the fact he is not comfortable on the ball and can give it away cheaply. Awful at RB.

  • What is it with everyone and expecting the players we JUST signed to be leaving? Morrison's off to Celtic, 34 year old Hughes has the hump because he's been dropped, Evina's off to Orient, Stephens is disappearing off somehwere because he was dropped...due to injury. These players signed in July/August and yet people are adamant that they're off. It's starting to sound like Football Rumours around here

    Well, it is now.................................
  • I can't believe the amount of made up rumours we've had recently.

Danny Haynes suggests that Hughes has left Charlton, on twitter....
  • ive got a feeling that tweet should say 'wouldnt' rather than 'wont'
  • Wouldn't surprise me to be honest. Can't see him ever featuring in the team at this level and it was only really his injury that stopped us selling him in my opinion.
  • What does the tweet say?
  • ive got a feeling that tweet should say 'wouldnt' rather than 'wont'

Re-reading it you might be right, great grammer.

  • I can't see that he could be signed by another club, he's only just started running after a number of months out with an achilles injury.
  • Seems like a real key member in the squad in terms of morale & banter.
Could be a bigger loss than it seems.
  • Coach at Oldham is the whisper from an unreliable source.

And I mean really unreliable. Even more unreliable than Plaaayer or NLA.
  • Moi

    I don't believe that

Should've heard the one I heard from an agent last night about a ref now that was a rumour

Not all of us have been on the board.

Though I didn't realise you had until you mentioned it last week in the Lib!

    We've never met.

  • Possible as Oldham recently sacked all of their coaching staff (minus Paul Dickov).

I can only assume Into The Valley then ;-)
