i haven't seen a lot to be positive about since Curbs left until this season on the footballing front
You can't keep using the Hartlepool following as an example.
Looks like there will be at least 1300 at Walsall on Saturday . I wouldn't be surprised if it reaches a thousand for Yeovil on boxing day and if we make 7 K at fulham that will be fantastic support . If you think that is a bad away following then you are deluded I was at Bury & MK dons earlier in the season when we had no idea we were going to be this good and the support was fantastic. You sound like a broken record and to talk about the Curbs era is ridiculous - there are hundreds if not thousands of Charlton fans who support the team now who never saw a Charlton team under Curbishley. (Including my sons) and thankfully have no idea what you are on about.
No way. If ooh aah decided we had decent away support, that would leave him with only two other points to make - - ie Curbishley and the board - for another four years. Repeatedly.

Two's too little, I think.
Ah but three's a crowd, well... it is to anyone except Oohaah. To him it'd be a piss poor excuse for a crowd.
Oohaah does go on a bit at times but, to give him his dues, history has generally proven him right over the last few seasons. He wasn't the only one, but while large numbers on here were doing sex wees over McOxo's debut and proclaiming a new dawn in which we were to be led to glory by Kyle Reid, Oohaah was assuring us we were in fact still shite. As it turned out we were arguably as shite as our fine club has ever been. He's now acknowledging that we look a good side again, I think we should look upon that as good sign.
It's also no coincidence that the manager who has turned us around was heavily schooled under Curbs and has assembled a side in the image of Curbs' finest - a team that can play a bit, but also has a dogged, determined core. I make Oohaah right about Curbs too.
It's also true our away support isn't everything it could be. I travel to a lot of away games, at least I did before I left the country, and I've often thought we're under represented at games outside the southeast relative to our home support. We turn out in numbers for the odd 'glamour' cup game or when there's some cheap/free travel on the table but otherwise we're not usually turned out in what you would call impressive numbers. Usually respectable, but rarely above average and often a bit quiet too. That said, a lot of the teams with the largest and most vociferous away support don't have great reputations, either as fans or clubs, so perhaps we'd be a different club with those kinds of fans attached. The Valley Party showed that Charlton fans care about their club just as much as anyone else, we just show it our own way too. Pardew never got us as his complaints about our reception for Deano showed, Curbs did though and so does Powell. They are understated men who get about their business in a quiet but very efficient and effective way. That is the Charlton way. That comes with lots of pluses, I guess away support just isn't one of them.
Can you reasonably compare away support these days with the past anyway? I would like Oohaah to produce a study which links our average away following over the last 20 years, against league position, with the unemployment rate, cost of living index, petrol prices and the cost a Chicken Balti Pie at Wallsall factored in.
Who knows 353 at Hartlepool in 2011 might equal 1327 at Reading in 1997?
come on beds 505 at bury and 1,229 at mk dons "fantastic support" it may have been noise wise in your opinion but i was at mk and it was decent but nothing else (and just in case you dont understand i'm talking about the numbers we bring) and we've been in the top 3 all season and first for most of it so even at those early stages there was a slight clue as to us being good
these aren't great numbers compared to other clubs of similar and smaller size , millwall on a tuesday in february took 1,371 to mk dons when placed 7th in the table
soton last season on a tuesday in september took 1,495 when 3rd bottom after a handful of games
if we bring over 5k to fulham it's great support, just like when little clubs like yeovil and dagenham brought 4k to us in the cup these one offs can happen
i think you'll find my reference to curbs here is in response to you calling me negative , i repeat there has been little to be positive about since the great man left until now and i am positive about this season
exiled talks sense but i understand no one likes the truth and that's what i deal in ;-)
Ah the last minute penalty (Mr Dyer went to ground quite easily!). Indeed the following was better that day....but then again so was the home support of circa 18k (think it was about 5k in 1983).
beds you fail to understand it , i'm comparing our away /home support ratio to all other clubs like for like
everyone has differing personal circumstances but i fail to understand why ours is so poor compared to others
saying that, our home support is very decent in numbers and that is more important by a long shot
when the figures consistantly show we have decent home/away ratio i will point that out but when people start bigging it up a few facts to keep them in line never hurt anyone , i say it how i see it and don't deal in rose tinted bullshit
and the days of me going to all games went a good few years back with the responsibility of family etc
Always amazes me why Ooh Aah seems to wind people up so much because 99.99% of the time he is bang on.
Our away support is generally pretty poor, people are wetting themselves that we will take 1000+ to Walsall but Sheffield United, Wednesday and Huddersfield all have similar home support to us and would have sold this out weeks ago if they were in our position.
