Crowd could top 17,000 I think, I read somewhere that the first 500 travelling supporters got free coach places, or was that Huddersfield fans?

Score 3-1 to the addicks, 2-0, 2-1 flap for 10 minutes before our ever improving counter attacking game wins the day for a jubilant noisy last 5.....come on!
  • 9-2 to Charlton. 2-0 down 20 to go boom Waggy BWP and Jackson get hat tricks
  • 2-1. Late equaliser from Hayes.
  •  you get the feeling that it’s not going to go to anybody’s heads (apart from some fans maybe).

    Come on you reds!

Yup. It is going to my head. And can you blame me? It feels like we've been trapped underground in a Chilean-style mining accident for about four years, and two or three months ago we returned to the surface and finally saw the sun again!

So yes, my head says  there may be a few storm clouds ahead. But my heart says just enjoy the warm glow of sunshine on our backs (and our midfield and forwards, too!) and  excuse me while I dance a little jig of (slightly arthritic) joy.

3-0 to CAFC. I've predicted us to win every game this season and I'm not changing my tune now. 50 points by Christmas here we come.
  • 1-1 or 2-1 victory. Preston are no mugs and will play some decent stuff.
  • Powell to pick the starting 11 and the bench based on far more information than I could ever have.
Result will be a funny old game.
Of 2 halves, both of which Charlton will win, 1-1 win in the first half, BWP obviously, and 2-1 in the second, JJ and Kermo, obviously.

  • Preston are likely to play 4-1-4-1. Expect a strong well organised line-up, difficult to break down and looking for the opportunity to nick a goal. We may need to be patient. 1-0 with a late goal.
  • It's my birthday on Saturday and we usually lose when we play on my birthday.
  • Charlton to win by 4, it's a saturday
  • 9-2 to Charlton. 2-0 down 20 to go boom Waggy BWP and Jackson get hat tricks
    I like your style.

  • Preston must have been playing pretty shockingly looking at their fans predictions, i know their form has not been great recently but surprised to see fans of a team that was tipped for promotion overwhelmingly thinking that they will get thumped...

Ah well, hope they're right.  One of them predicted 6-2, sounds good to me
  • 1-7 humbling
  • The ultimate come from nowhere and bite you on the arse game.

Preston are having a tough time but have a decent squad and sometimes it is going into a game undrrdogs that draws something out of you in those situations.

So I'm negatively fearful, which or may not be influenced by the fact it is quarter to three and I've not had a minutes sleep yet.

Come on you reds, knock some positivity into me.
  • Physic RM here. I have been looking at my balls since last night and they are in much better state of cleanliness than last week.....Mrs RM has given them a right old seeing to.............and boy have they 'polished' up well!!
Now as I sit here at 6.25 in the morning caressing them they are beginning to 'stir'......I'm waiting for their prediction and I'm getting a little restless I can tell you!
Oh here it comes!!............Same team as last week, Stevo on the bench though........very wet pitch......which may not suit our passing style..........may have to 'win ugly'.........but PNE are a good side in a bad patch.....this is going to be close......addicks to sneak it 2-1......if the weather gets worse may even go to 1-1!!

There you go then.......balls are going to be put away....time for me to get dressed and off to work.

Match thread tomorrow from 2 pm

    Cheers

I think you will need to find another team of reds to support if you want to be instilled with confipositivity!

In my experience your post rings all too true, sadly.;-(

    never a truer word spoken
  • very tight game. I reckon we'll be one nil down at half time and come back to knick with an outstanding half time performance. 2, maybe 3-1.

  • I'm used to 4-0 scorleines now and anything less is totally unacceptable.

  • I don't predict our scores. But Preston have let in equally more goals than anyone else in this division.
  • there is something about the current bunch of players. A lot of new faces but we clicked from the off. Recently they have begun to really gel and we are only going to get better in my opinion. Therefore I'm sticking my neck out on a comfortable 3-0.
  • 0-1 halftime, coming back to win 2-1

  • Was expecting a tough game, but looking at their fans predictions - it might be a little more straightforward. Mayor looks a good player but we should have enough to beat them comfortably - 3-0 or 3-1.
  • 1 or 2 up at half time.  3-1 or 4-0 FT, followed by Phil Brown meltdown and a post match interview in which he says that "decisions don't go against teams like Charlton when they're at home", blah blah blah.
  • On the other hand, they may find some form and it may be against us.  Expect a traditionally dirty northern match.
  • I'm seriously looking forward to this... my first league game this season (damn baby!) and the only other game I've seen was the league cup game against the same opponents, which was pretty dire.  This is going to be an old school, traditional trip to the valley - lunch round my parents house, drive to Charlton with my Dad and brother listening to Meat Loaf, game of footy, then radio 5 on the way home saying "I think we may have missed the Charlton report then?".  It's the first time we've been able to do that in years... so for that reason we will probably lose 0-1 to a deflection in the fourth minute, in a match that made the cup game seem like the Manchester derby.
  • 5-0 first goal after 35 seconds. BWP hat-trick.

12 seconds devoted to our game on the Football League show.

  • Anyone heard if Hume and Mellor will be fit? And Mayor is struggling with a hamstring strain. Whether their strikers make it could influence the whole game. Hume and Mellor are as good as anything in this league.
