Yougas consistent injury was highly debatable not the original one that was never in doubt and at a time when we were skint refused to play even though the clubs doctors said he was fit , so did another independent specialist,
He had his own French doctor who said he wasn't ,
Yoga still took a 500 quid pay rise per week that season to just sit in france and do nothing
I belive it put him in the top 3 earners at the club,
He deserves none of your admiration
Sorry but you've got this wrong.
He said he was injured, our medics said he was fine. He went to France and they said he was injured, we said he was fine.
He played in a reserves match and buggered his knee even further.
The French medics maintained that it was related to the first injury and he never should have played, our medics claimed that it was a totally fresh injury.
But then our medics decided he could go to France and have the treatment he asked for in the first place.
He did not refuse to play.
Is a much more yoga friendly way to look at it I must admit,
However was not what I was told from someone who was very involved at cafc at all levels
So I stick to what I was told until that person tells me that they got it wrong
Not disbelieveing what u say at all as there are always 2 sides to a story
If it helps, this is a first hand account not an account of someone who told me....
The facts of the events are actually very similar in both versions its the interpretation that is different.
Up until the start of this season I would have wanted us to take a punt on Youga returning , now with Wiggins and Evina he would not get anywhere near the left back slot as others have suggested maybe he could return as a left footed centre back , he certainly is tall enough .
But it looks like he has now gone , I will be interested where he ends up , I suspect it will be back in France.
Its more the assertion that he refused to play that concerned me, rather than the timing of events - which can be a matter of perception. Fans take great exception (and quite rightly) to players who refuse to play and I think it is doing Kelly a great personal dis-service to suggest that he refused to play.
He refused to play in the fact that he thought (and was told by the French doctor) that we still had a problem with his knee which was then operated on.
I don't think he or any other player in the last year of his contract would purposely refuse to play feigning an injury as they're more likely to want to put themselves in the shop window, be it by earning a new contract with his current club or somewhere else. Sitting out a whole season is not going to get him another contract anywhere very fast.
Didn't he say he was fit to play the week before we played millwall at the rusty tool box? For months before we heard nothing about him, then he comes out with this, then he disappeared off the radar again.

It was only operated on once he had played in the reserves and then either got a new injury or made the current one worse depending on which set of medics you believed.
Powell said that Youga could feel a clicking in his joint everytime he ran, they said it was in his head so he sought a second opinion in France who found there was still a problem with it.

Up to the start of this season i've been hoping that he would recover from his injury and would allow him to play again for us because he looked a good left back in league 1 and plus with SCP coaching him he would of got better. He showed his class to the other left backs who tried to replace him; Basey, jackson, borrowdale( I rated him can't believe he's playing in league 2) Fry and Bessone.
Will be looking out to see if he plays again in England.
Wiggins is in a differnt league to Youga. Wiggins is class.
Remember how he fudged his knee up? By trying to boot the ball into orbit with no around him. Bit of a loose cannon and was prone to the odd bit of showboating that was just what we needed when going down the pan in the championship.

I remember it as a tackle on a Bristol R player. I thought he wasn't badly injured and was play acting, as he had committed the foul. I couldn't have been more wrong.
I'm pretty sure it was a tackle near the north west corner and as he slid in the opposition player ended up sitting on Kelly's lap, and didn't he actually end up trying to come back on but could barely walk? It's a shame if he never plays football again as he showed some promise, but I too think wiggins looks better anyway.

currently a free agent after being released by Yeovil, still only 27 years old, im suprised he hasnt found a club this season, i thought he was half decent when he played for us

Never rated him but still sad if his career ends prematurely.
He definitely improved over time, even if he did have a strange habit of clearing the ball in a manner in which it would fly directly in the air over him and not actually make any ground!
Crazy to think he was considered a hot, young prospect for us not so long ago. Didn't realize he was already 27.

I remember this!! It was a bizarre habit he had! I was always caught between being amazingly exasperated and somewhat amused!! (he played during some dark days where you had to get amusement where you could!!)
Thought he was a decent player and am surprised he can't get a club. Maybe injuries took their toll.

I never heard anything from anyone.
But if the clicking was in his head that is definately a different injury to clicking in the knee.

Youga was useless when he first started at Charlton BUT up until he got injured that season he was our best player (in my opinion).
Felt it was a real shame he never got back fit and playing......but would he get into the team now? No
Wiggins is different gravy.
I hope that u are right,
But I dont think that it is that clear cut
