We were aware that supporters had chosen to sit in seats (at or near the front that had good views) despite the fact that the chosen seats had not been allocated to them. They had done so very deliberately hoping that the real ticket holders would want to stand at the back and that they could ensure that they could sit down for the game. We'd sold out, so this time, it caused a problem. Problems within problems really and too many people deciding, yet again, that they can behave as they want without any regard to other people. We do seem to have more idiots than used to be the case, the main difference being that we now appear to have acquired rather too many exceptionally unpleasant idiots.
I was near the people kicking off about not wanting to go to their allocated seats and giving the very reasonable stewards a hard time about it.
I rarely go to away games these days and every time I do I regret it.
No the fella that spoke to the stewards was sitting behind them...Mick was sitting in the same row a few seats along.
Show's what you know pal.
I know mick, and was sat about 4 rows behind him. Mick was with the two lads the whole day as well as some others. And hardly put them in their place he CLEARLY said, 'lads give him a break' and it was as simple as that , before you try to make out there was a big incident. Get your facts right before you spout bollocks.
Just spoke at length with Mick and I now know 'exactly' what was said Jarman.
I'm not going to try to win points or wind you up mate......... so I'll not go into details.
By the way the kid was NOT time wasting as you implied......though some of the others (at the encouragement of the Stevenage players) obviously did........he simply was not allowed to go onto the pitch, especially as the ball was well inside the playing area. He went to get the ball and then realised he shouldn't do it and stepped back which made it look like he was deliberately leaving the ball there to waste time.
I was looking straight at the two lads we are talking about because I was sitting in the stand to your left a few yards in so I saw the whole thing front on, unlike yourself and I can assure you it was considerably more than a 'couple of shouts' as you put it......it was was OTT aggression towards a little 12 year old boy. Had either of them have been your kids I'm sure you'd have been digusted with them and had the ball boy been your son you'd have no doubt gone justifiably loopy.
Sorry to disagree with you mate...........don't want to make an enemy out of you over the behaviour of two 'soused up' idiots.
yes it was simple------------------the people standing in our seats should have naffed off to their own. We could not go anywhere else as the stand was fully allowcated(sic). As for people standing who want to stand and people sitting who want to sit--- thats a tad difficult when 3 people are standing in the seat area of 1.
The people who we were with could have slapped the stupid out of all who in the wrong, but we made the choice in the 2nd half to stand on the side although it meant not seeing to much. For once the OBill when it was explained to them could see the issue and left us alone.
JOKE!!! Calm down, only kidding........Others probably wouldn't have been so mature. I saw similar situation in play-off V Swindon a couple of years ago.
Probably the same knobheads sitting next to us at Sheff Utd. They wouldnt move, the blokes whose seats they were in, threatened to take their heads off, they moved. GH, you should have gone for the more direct approach.
Seems like I'm having a lot to say for myself in this thread......so I hope this viewpoint is also understood.
The thing about standing is that you have to remember it affects people going right to the back of the stand.
You may think it's OK to stand in row D with young guys and gals around you in a group......however the folks right behind you then have to stand and so on and so on until everyone behind you going right back to row Z then has to stand in order to see.
Some folk aren't as nimble or lively as the younger fans and they are (rather selfishly) simply forgotten about.
Next time any of you want to stand just think about some folks many rows back, who you can't even see, you are putting them through a lot of grief.......the older you get the less you like to (or indeed can) keep getting up and down. It's one of the main reasons I don't go in away ends these days.
If only they'd make standing areas so this conversation wouldn't even be neccessary and everyone could be happy.
I've got nothing against other fans standing, but being 5'4" it is rather annoying having a group of large men blocking your view.
I normally make sure to get tickets near the front, I'd like to stand more often, but if I'm paying £20 to see the game I want to be able to actually see it.
As for standing/sitting in someone else's seat, thats just not on.

Ever so gradually our fans are turning into a complete bunch of moaning pricks. I went to Millwall for the West Ham game with mates the other day and they actually support theire team properly. Vocally, no booing, positive support for their team. All this whinging and moaning about ballboys, stewards and burgers. Fuck me, what a bunch of tossers. Makes me want to give up my season ticket listening to you lot
Vocally, you sure? the do a merry jig when they score and not much else from what i've seen and as for positive support, they spent more time goading west ham than they did even watching the match.
Yeah they are pretty supportive, they don't have many songs but I have found them to be very supportive towards their players and they create a real sense of 'them and us' and I think that helps. I'm not a Millwall expert so I may be wrong. Although, amongst the guys I have sat with and around they all agree that our support against them was impressive, they reckon we're the best fans they've seen there for years. I thought it best to keep it to myself that I was one of the unlucky lot who was there to see us get thrashed and then locked in for an hour ha ha
Me and Mrs MOG have basically given up going to away games because of the "I'm gonna stand" Idiots: As SAA£ says, we're not fit like some, and being short-arses, even if We stand (after paying for a "Seat" ticket) we can't always see. I suppose that makes us "Not true supporters" ? We left Southend Away at half-time because we could see about 10% of the pitch.
Gh, you missed out the fact that just before our lot spoke to the blokes in question, they had told two 14 year old kids to 'f#ck off', one of whom looked close to tears as a result of it.
He rightfully got a slap and moved away, not before claiming he was going to get people killed! Tragic I know.
