Valley chief wary of Stevenage threat

  • Still, its good to see how optimism is treated on the forum.

Optimism is great FM, however arrogance isn't.

  • Northwich, Dagenham & Redbridge, Rochdale, Hereford, Shrewsbury - just some of the minnows we've lost to over the last few years. We should win tomorrow, but if the players and management approach it with the same arrogance as some of you lot then we've got no chance.
  • 5-0 to the idiots :-)

Again, how can ''thinking'' it will be an easy win be arrogant?
Arrogance relies on an attitude imparted to others.
  • It's easy to be a pessimist

It may be their cup final, but they are Stevenage.
    we are Charlton.
    They will be spanked.
    End of.
No covering your fears by half suggesting we wont win well.
Teach these upstarts a footballing lesson.

The above is arrogance FM....no mention of "thinking" we will win, you're saying we will "teach them a lesson"!

FTR, I think we will win, but I know we will have to work hard for it and earn the 3 points. But this is football...nothing is won on paper.

  • What does concern me , is that if the fans think its going to be so easy , they might not bother singing from the start of the match , which does in my opinion lead to a downward path , Tranmere at home was a prime example of this.
  • We should win quite comfortably, that is confidence. We WILL win easily, that is arrogance. With the first mindset then yes, 2 nil at least is not unrealistic. With the second we could be in for one hell of a wake-up call.
  • Personally I think it's great to have confident fans in high spirits, but there will always be some on here who like to have a go at our fans. The result is all that matters, not people's pre-match predictions.

  • Well said Stig.

To all those people that say this is an easy 3 points......if we only draw (a better result than Sheff Wed) are you going to boo?

If so, f*ck off as we don't need or want fans like you....spoilt brats who don't like it when they don't get their own way.

If Charlton turn up with this "easy 3 points" attitude, we will get tonked in the same way that Wednesday did.

Now learn some respect and stop giving it the big 'un.
eh? Why would I booo...bit of a difference between saying i think we will win easily and booing if they don't. I have been going 30 years and never boo'd but often thought we would win easily when we have lost (most of the last 2 seasons in fact)....hahaha...i never learn - always the optimist!

Then I would have posted on the other Stevenage thread not on the Valley Chief thread....

Nothing is won on paper, but much is won in the mind of the boss...

Hey ho - egg on my face time (or possibly not), in 24hours - hopefully we can all laugh about it then!
  • Don't know about you FM, but I ain't laughing. That was not good.

They're not called Stevenage Borough any more . . .
Now that I admit I honestly didn't know until today.
  • Enjoy the eggs...
  • No games easy, no games are won before they are played hopefully the last few results will bring everyone back down to earth
  • hopefully BRD but I doubt it. That was worryingly bad.
  • hopefully BRD but I doubt it.
    Does it matter?

Today was poor, but I'm not worrying yet. We did suffer from a lot of bad luck, as well as playing poorly.
  • Scrambled and rotton
  • Half my post was right...Stevenage were dross...just a shame we were worse.  Oh well, still top of the league and plenty more easy games to come  ;-)

Didn't Sheff weds lose 5-1 there? If so we did quite well, if not then ... Fill in the blanks!

I tell you what there were times yesterday when I wish I'd gone to that funfair across the road instead, those toilets were a disgrace, how does that place not get shut down bordering on 3rd world.
