The most dissapointing thing about mid-week was that it was chance for a few of them to put pressure on the league starting XI, and none of them did, really. A double shame because the first choicers would surely benefit from the competition. We actually need a few more Waggy v Green type battles for the shirt.
So same starting XI as there is no reason to drop Hayes - and Charlton comfortable at 3-0. Worst case scenario, 3-1.
A tight and frustrating game which we will hopefully nick 1-0.
Mild booing and jeering at half time when it's still nil all, leading to further frenzied debate on here on Saturday evening over the merits of booing.
Come on some of you, this is an excellent team, deal with it
Be fair. You must admit that after the last 4-5 years, it does take some getting used to.
It's a bit like Amanda Knox must feel right now. The nightmare appears to have ended - but is it real?
You can't blame anyone for pinching themselves. But then when we have and we realise it isn't a dream, it's quite exciting to imagine how good we are going to be when all these new players start to ''gell'' !!!!
the haddock and chip lovers are gunna go all posh nosh on us and double dip fry the scouse... so not only will it be blind but the scouse will also be sent home with a very burnt bottom! (the gastro among us will get the food references in that lot)....
Last 3 games have been 1-1 between the two teams and overall Charlton have won 7 games, Tranmere have won 7 games and there have been 14 yes 14 draws between the sides.
History must repeat itself so whats the obvious prediction - Go for a draw -
Win 3-1 speaking to a tranmere fan who plays in me dart league last night he was saying their fans boycoting tomorrow over prices 25 quid to get in and their club charging 35 quid for the coach down. He said they haven't even sold enough for 1 coach down for the game
Bumped into a Tranmere fan in a club in Cardiff last night. He was drunk enough to reckon they'll beat us. I'll go 3-0, BWP with 2 and Kermit the supersub with the other.
Tranmere have been a bogey team for us over the years. I'm expecting us to have loads of procession and untold chances but their keeper will have a blinder. This has got 0-0 written all over it.
Tranmere, like every other team that comes to the Valley, wont make it easy for us, they will do their best to shut up shop and hit us on the break. Our midfiled will be crucial here in 'spotting' the final pass that opens them up,with Green and/or Waggy getting down the flanks and delivering crosses that can be attacked. We have to go at them and be in top gear from the off, if the above matrialises then 2-0 to the Addicks. My team would be the same as last week at Sheffied (assuming no injuries) but with two changes....Green for Waggy and Kermit for Hayes (both of those dropping to the bench).
Match thread for those not going or cant hear it from about 2:15.
