If someone told me last May that in the first week of October that Charlton would be top of the league and 5 points ahead of the 2nd place team, I would have probably laughed. But low and behold here we are !
However, after a terrific 2-0 away result against Sheffield United last weekend, this week has still been one to moan about for some with the somewhat disappointing 3-0 home defeat against Brentford midweek, albeit it in the JPT.
The defeat could be a blessing in disguise for us in the long run, meaning we can now concentrate on the League for a while before other cup games (Kent Cup and FA Cup) begin.
Despite naming an unchanged team for the majority of league games so far, impressive cameo's have raised the question of whether the in-form Kermit will start instead of Hayes, or will he remain our ‘super sub’ ? As for the right-wing position, the battle for Waggy v Green is hotting up, and with both playing 90 minutes Wednesday night, either one of the two has a good chance of starting on Saturday.
We won’t be seeing Leon Cort due to International duty with Guyana, so there is a vacancy on the bench. Depending on the first XI, the bench could be along the lines of Sullivan, Doc/Evina, Hughes, Kermit/Hayes, Green/Waggy, or even possibly Euell without defensive cover or in place of Hughes?
So what is to be expected of Tranmere ?
Rovers head to The Valley currently sitting in a mid-table position of 12th, drifting lower from their impressive start to the season of three wins and a draw after five matches, which led to Les Parry being nominated for the manager of the month in August (won by MK Franchise ranter Karl Robinson).
Rovers were also in JPT action this week at Accrington Stanley, but unfortunately the game was abandoned due to a terrible injury to Accrington on-loan defender Tom Bender, knocked out in a collision with his own keeper. Tranmere were leading the game 2-1 before the Accrington defender got concussion in the 39th minute.
Due to the game being called off, the suspension of midfielder John Welsh carries into Saturday’s game much to Parry’s displeasure! Also ruled out for Saturday’s game is ex-Leeds midfielder Andy Robinson who has been out injured since August.
The strike force of Enoch Showunmi (who scored in both 1-1 draws last season) and Jose Baxter (on-loan from Everton) is likely to be the main threat to us this weekend. If Morrison and Taylor can keep them quiet, i’m positive we can maintain our unbeaten run.
Tranmere have lost their last two away games, but they were tricky opponents in the shape of Preston and Huddersfield.
I say 2-0 to the Addicks.
Come on You Reds !

Charlton go 3 league games without a win.
This is the game where we score early and walk away with it
5 - 0. Addicks
Tranmere have a good record of clean sheets, no particular main goalscorer. If we score early we could be ok, but the longer it goes, could be dodgy.
might be 0-0
Anything less could start the alarm bells ringing
I'm feeling nervous just cos the depth of our squad didn't look good in the 2 cup games I saw (preston and brentford) I didn't see the over hyped reading fixture
If bwp plays we win
One aim
No doubt Tranmere will waste time from KO and park the bus as they did last year. I also heard that they had the most number of clean sheets in the divsion.
All in all a worrying game and it really could be a big test to see if our fans can be patient.
2-1 to The Valiants - BWP and SuperFrog
