Some players have the game to overcome lack of pace- Mig doesn't but if he had pace he would be a terrific defender - yes because he could get out of position from time to time which was then exposed by his lack of pace. Rufus was for me our greatest defender ever, but pace gave him the edge he needed.
Harsh (but funny), Halix...But not as harsh as OA.....
.....as far as I can remember he was a perfectly nice chap. His powers of clairvoyance may be a bit dodgy, but then again, so are most people's (and that definitely includes myself)!
Last season my daughter expressed the view at a match that he was "fit." Once we established that she was not discussing his aerobic and anaerobic qualities the chap next to us, who sponsored a player and thus attended the sponsors' dinner, said he would get Mig to ring her on the night of the event which he did. He spoke to her for about 5 minutes and told her to wish her dad all the best too.
Bear in mind that he almost certainly knew he was on his way by then.
OA............He's actually a real gent..............have you met the man?
"He said: “There was a lot of change at the club over the summer. They signed something like 16 players which was strange, not only for me but other lads who had been there a long time.
"They didn't offer me anything but I wasn't really surprised as I didn't play that often last season.
"I think it was a mistake for them because a lot of players who left signed for Championship clubs"
If any of us got the sacked and were replaced by new staff we would probably say something similar - understandable but clearly wrong in his case. But I'm sure the comment was when he moved up a league to Blackpool rather than back to Brentford on loan!
I bumped in to him in Charlton Asda's after a win one Saturday. He didnt have a basket but had loads of products in his arms. So i just patted him on the shoulder and said "well done today mate"
He smiled and simply said "Gracias" and hurried off

top man...bollocks.
OA........don't be silly mate....there are quite a few posters on here who have told you he's a nice fella......and they have actually met him and had dealings with him too.
You haven't, yet you're calling him a prick.....I could say more about that but I think it's not neccessary.
I've met him once or twice (all be it briefly) and spoke to him in a bit of broken Spanish about my relatives in San Sebastian.....he was a very courteous and pleasant person.
May I ask exactly what it was that he said, in his very honest comments, that upset you so much as to call the guy a prick? I'm genuinely baffled.
I think those comments were made a month or two back, hindsight is a wonderful gift if you have it, and anyway I think he was obviously upset to have left us.....so in all, his comments were quite unambiguous and mild in content.
We've seen some absolutely horrendously bitter comments from many players who have left various clubs over the last few years........he has said little or nothing wrong there, especially looking at things from his own obviously dissapointed point of view.
He's entitled to his opinion. It's not as though there weren't plenty of people who shared his reservations at the time...
It's one thing to question Llera's ability as a footballer which, as you imply, many on here have it's something else to call him a prick which is rather more personal unless he has reason to of course through either meeting or dealing with Llera. He does not suggest any personal knowledge of Llera so calling him a prick would appear unjustified.
In my opinion anyway which, as you state, I'm entitled to.

1. I don't rate him as a player.
2. He should have kept his mouth shut about the club.
I do apologise if you are offended by my rather innocuous comments, it's called banter. Footballers get paid a hell of a lot of money to do what they do and deserve scrutiny, particularly when they step out of line.
His comments sound like those of somebody who didn't want to leave. He is entitled to be a bit bitter - I certainly don't begrudge him that. I think the original thrust of the thread implied he was saying this just before we played Brentford - but it is clear he said those things long before that. As I said before- If any of our employers decide- rightly or wrongly, that they don't want us any more - I doubt we'd be too complimentary if asked about them. Doesn't make him a prick and if it's banter calling a player - who despite his limitations, did his best for us - well I'd rather we didn't indulge in that. I have the upmost respect for him and wish him well apart from when he plays against us that is.
If he thinks we were mistaken he was perfectly within his rights to say so. There really was a heck of a turnaround, which luckily for all involved CP has worked wonders with. But it's not beyond possibility that we would be drifting 5-10 points off the top within a month thanks to the old problem of 'gelling' and if that had been the case, and Llera had still gone... well, he would have a case, wouldn't he? Hindsight and all that.
The comments were published after 10 or so games had been played...I think we had just beaten Sheffield Utd 2-0 away from home. The timing of the publication of his comments certainly didn't do him any favours.
Anyway several of you have met him personally and consider him sound, so I will leave it at that.
On the face of it, he has a point....a number of our, ahem, 'star' players went to clubs in the division above, so conventional wisdom may suggest it was rash to let some of them go (leaving aside the issue of wages, as well).
However, it appears that it was the best thing that could have happened to the club - but now we can that with confidence because we are 5 points clear at the top (I like saying that).
He was bound to be disappointed at being let go..it's only natural and he is human, after all.
So, he called it how he saw it....hindsight is a wonderful thing, as they say.....

That's a great story, Len. I sat next to him at the sponsors' dinner - he certainly did know he was on his way by then, but was not bitter about it at all - just a bit sad, really. We were then in the Millennium Suite a few days later after the final match of the season (which he played in). He walked past then immediately recognised us and came over for a chat. A thoroughly decent guy - one of the nicest footballers I have ever met - and very fit too!!

Big Mig's a top man.

couldnt care if he's a nice guy really....will never get over that colchester game. even that late swindon goal did little to improve him in my eyes.
morrison and taylor are head and shoulders above him as footballers, so it was the right decision to sack him off out of it.
Thought Mig gave his all when at the club. Obviously very disappointed to have been shown the door.
Despite being a nice guy and leaving everything on the pitch he was no longer an asset to the business (CAFC).
