Big Mig thinks Charlton are mistaken

According to the Hounslow Chronicle, Llera's thoughts on Charlton prior to the Brentford Game. Had he hit his head again when he made these comments?

"He said: “There was a lot of change at the club over the summer. They signed something like 16 players which was strange, not only for me but other lads who had been there a long time.

"They didn't offer me anything but I wasn't really surprised as I didn't play that often last season.

"I think it was a mistake for them because a lot of players who left signed for Championship clubs"

  • I suppose him and Racon, anyone else?

  • If they were that good we would be in the Championship now?
  • Yes clearly it hasn't worked out well at all, we should have stuck with those players who took us to such a good league position last season.
  • I can't actually see many players who we got rid of in the summer now playing at a higher level. Racon at Millwall and Jenkinson at Arsenal but other than that? I suppose technically Robbie is but as he's 3rd choice keeper I doubt he qualifies as playing. Even Llera himself is not out on loan at Brentford isn't he?
  • With a goal difference of -7 and just a paltry 7 points from 30, it is questionaable if the football at the toolbox is in any way a higher level...heh heh
  • Dailly was at Pompey. Can't remember where he went after that.

Carl Jenkinson - Arsenal -  Fee undisclosed

    Michael Stewart Out of Contract

Christian Dailly Out of Contract - signed for Portsmouth

Jon Fortune - Not Retained but recuperating with Charlton

Miguel Llera - Not retained signed for Blackpool

Jose Semedo - Not Retained - Signed for Sheffield Wednesday on Bosman Free Transfer

Kyel Reid - Not retained signed for Bradford City

Tamer Tuna - Not Retained signed for Welling

Ross Worner - Not Retained - Signed for Aldershot

    Alex Stavrinou - Not Retained

  • Basey went to Peterborough.
  • This, along, with the MK Dons manager comment, must be the most deluded I've seen for a while. Didn't some manager (Megson?) also say that they were the ManU of League 1? It's all beginning to sound very ungracious - another sign of how well we are doing.
  • But the players that have moved "on" would you really want to see them in the team now? For example, would Basey get in ahead of Wiggins? Oh hell no! Jenkinson ahead of Solly? Could provoke a mixed reaction but I would go for the more experienced and consistant Solly. Racon wouldn't get anywhere near our midfield. Stephens,Hollands,Alonso,Hughes and Pritchard all offer more than Racon.
  • None of it makes any difference because none of those that left would walk straight into the side as it stands at the moment.

IMO the changes that have been made were justified and a great bit of work from all concerned within the club.

  • And yes Hamer is 10 times better than Elliott. FACT
  • I wouldn't want Racon if we only had nine men available.
  • Proves that you don't need brains to be a footballer.

  • perhaps the hounslow chronicles spanish translator was only working part time that day

BUT ML always tried in a charlton shirt i ll give him that ,but he wasnt up to it ...good luck to him
  • We've moved on and I prefer Taylor and Morrison but he wore his heart on his sleeve and always seemed up for it regardless of how well he or the team were doing.

And that last minute goal v Swindon will live long in the memory.
  • I don't think Racon will last long at Millwall.  Is he even making the bench atm?  The rest of their midfielders must be quite happy they're competing with him.

Racon is just recovered from injury. Been out at least a month I believe..
  • What a load of nonsense.

We needed a big overhaul, the second half of last season was a disgrace.

Chris Powell has done an unbelievable job this season, so proud he's our manager and couldn't be happier with how our season has gone so far.

    How's Blackpool's reserves, Llera?
  • He'll be playing against us tomorrow night then??

Erm not in mine Henry, I was Ill that day and let the mother in law go instead!

Unfortunately the 3-0 thumping at Colchester and half time substitution lives long in my memory!

    Point taken though Sir ;-0
  • Is it just me or does Big Mig look like a Thunderbird?
  • Big Mig is a bit of a prig(ck).

Great shot he had on Saturday, shame it hit the crossbar.

Also, I see they thumped Bournemouth 6-0 in the JPT tonight - it could have been us ;-)  Francis not Involved, perhaps he should have been.

Where those his thoughts immediately prior to the Brentford game or when he moved to Blackpool? They would make more sense then. If the latter, he has been proved wrong but at least he wouldn't come across as being totally insane! I liked him but his lack of pace was too big a liability. If he was quick, he would be one hell of a centre half - oh well. If he was quick he wouldn't be playing for Brentford.
  • Taylor isn't quick either but so far has rarely made a big mistake.

At this level I'd say concentration and consistency was his main problem There's even a photo of Llera with "concentration" written on his hand.

That can't be right, Muttley knows everything about football, I susepect he might even be Alex Feruson.
  • Liked Mig, he'll be playing for Brentford next week probably. If he starts then we know he struggles with people being direct and running at him. In the air he was solid.
  • Went to the game last night with a Bournemouth fan. Danny Hollands was sitting in amongst the fans. Bournemouth were shite as the score suggests and Llera didn't miss a thing in the air. Will probably start next week but Leon Legge is back from injury so he may come in. On another front, the Brentford fans are awful. I know it was the JPT but to be 6-0 up and still not sing is pretty dreadful. Fair play to the Bournemouth lot who sang throughout, despite their side's awful performance! I'm sounding like @Miserableoldgit aren't i?!
