If Forest can't afford to invest in players then they can't afford to compensate us for poaching one of our most important employees. So they can sod right off.
Just look at PH's history (not in any particular order):
Palarse - kept them up while in admin...........and he was not wanted afterwards
QPR - a handful of games................and he was not wanted by club or fans
Pompey - managed them in times of financial trouble...........and he was not wanted afterwards
Forest - managed them when they were almost bankrupt.............and they sacked him
Swindon - a handful of games........and they sacked him.
Barnsley - managed them and parted company due to lack of success.
Rushden - managed them and parted company by mutual consent.
Finally he gets a job with us (and is welcome here) doing the task he does best - developing young talent. In the past he has developed Jenas, Andy Reid, Woodgate, and Dawson, among many others.
Then one day, a club that has already shown him the door once before, comes to him in turmoil and offers him the manager's job.
HE WANTS HIS HEAD EXAMINED IF HE EVEN LOOKED TWICE AT THE REQUEST FROM FOREST.
But his wife & family live up there & he has a lot of connections with Forest. I thought it was a great appointment by us & hope he stays but if forest can't/won't pay compo would he walk ?
People's brains go out of the window when it comes to football. They can't imagine why anyone would anyone take a higher profile/better paid job closer to their home, but would switch job thinking twice. Hope we keep him, but good luck to him if he gets a better gig and we get compensated.

Higher profile but we've no idea if it is better paid. A technical director is not the first team manager.
And there is a big ? over if it is a better job. There is something not right at the top at Forest and the current Chair is stepping down.
Agreed, we don't know Henry. From my limited knowledge I'd personally think a DoF is a higher ranking job than an academy director and a similar sized club established in a higher league would pay more, but I'll happily admit that's all just based on a vague impression. I'm sure the man will make a decision based on the relative benefits of both positions.

It doesn't matter - yout ake on a job like that you presumably answer questions around your commitment at the interview - you don't leave it staright away. He was appointed to build something, that is what he signed up to. When he has built it or sufficiently built it, then he should be able to walk away. A question of integrity and honour.
I can't see Hart going...... THIS club is going places as someone said before Forest can't even afford a transfer budget..... this club (thanks Slater and Jiminez) are on the way back... Why would he want to leave us when we will be potentially in the same division as them next season....

The way things are going, we might be in the division above them next season!

I used to pay a bloke £500 a day to work from home and do all my worrying for me.
His first task every day was to find £500 to pay the wages.
Better paid, high profile jobs in football are not the same as they are in the real world because there are so many circumstances beyond your control, that
you have little or no job security.
Much as I hate say it, but for example - Pards did a fair job at Soton only to be shown the door by a new owner.
"I came to Charlton because I believed the club's academy project is a very exciting one," said Paul, who joined the club in June.
"I think that it's a club that's going places, and in my time so far, I've seen that the club's fantastic reputation in academy circles is fully deserved.
"The first team has started the season very well, so there is a great buzz around the entire training ground, and I'm excited about the investment the club is making into its academy.
"Of course, Forest have a large place in my heart, but I'm here at Charlton to do a job."
The academy is a big part of our future, and he has the experience to make sure things are done right.
It was a great appointment in the summer and showed how the masterplan to get us back to the top has been well thought through. Even if we did turn down 500K compensation, it could be the best 500K that we ever 'spent'!

We didn't turn down compensation of £500K, Forest didn't offer it. Forest are saying they can't afford compensation.
The cynic in me reads his quote as being that of someone who didn't really have a choice to make - he's got a job to do, so he's going to get on with it.
Were Forest find the money for a compensation offer that was anywhere close to what we were looking for, then perhaps the situation would be very different.
The question is. Did he apply for the job or did Forest approach us on their own? That's key I think cos it tells us how settled he is with us. Maybe we'll never know that.

Looks like he is staying then......for the time being!
I read that as "piss off, you're not having him"
Slater did describe Hart as our "best signing of the summer"
compensate us for poaching one of our most important employees. So they can sod right off.

They're important but situations change. As long as we receive the compensation that we want, then it's all good.
I really admire the way Levvy handled the Modric thing in the summer. Hopefully more people in football will honour agreements.
Maybe he thought the writing was on the wall for CP but it hasn't turned out like that? Doubt it but never rule anything out.

a two fingered salute heading up the M1, well said Mr Hart
