I sincerely hope not WSS we are not a quarter of the way through the season yet. The counter arguement is keep a settled side especially an unbeaten one. Tweek it and freshen it up here and there e.g. Green for Waggy or Kermit for Hayes by all means but no wholesale changes. Injuries / suspensions will undoubtedly take their toll on the current 11 before too long. Last night was just a bad day at the office for some of them.
  • Personally, I don't see how it could be a problem but we do seem to drop off the pace during a game or for an entire half last night.

Obviously the management and fitness teams will be monitoring closely so in them I trust.

If it was fatigue, why were we struggling 1st half & not the 2nd half ?
  • perhaps subs on a bit earlier, many are in the last 10, might save a few legs of the starting 11
  • Hollands certainly looked knackered .

Us fans are such a demanding lot; we expect 100 mph football with little margin for error. In reality it is near nigh impossible to play flat out for 90 mins unless you are related to Colin Bell the former Man City & England legend therefore you need rest periods during a game however last night they seemed to take their rest period straight after the match kicked off! It is pure speculation but maybe SCP has been telling them to go out for the second half and keep it tight which they are misinterpreting as sit back and have a rest! Last night they clearly had a different set of instructions for the 2nd half not to go down without a fight.
  • But surely fatigue would come in to play at the end of th egame where we were stronger rather than the first 60 minutes. Personally I think we have to have the confidence to keep playing further up the pitch. If we are 2-0 up we sit off (take no risks) and if we are playing a decent side away it stands to reason we might adopt a similar approach, especially if they set out to get at us. We have to address this as we have seen the signs on a number of occasions.I think it is easier said than done and of course credit should go to MK Dons but I think we'll learn this the more games we play. Chrissy will know if any players are losing stamina/sharpness- there are enough tests in the modern game and he has to be ruthless and make changes when this is the case.
  • Thanks for the video - someone's got some great cameraman/woman skills!

P.S Can't believe what I am reading re: the purple knob.  So, we score and the momentum builds up as we push for the winner.  Then this plum decides to keep hold of the ball so said momentum is lost....if that's the case, then he needs bloody shooting.

BTW, thanks for the match reports everyone - and well done for the great support!

Yep that is pretty much what happened!!  Dont worry though, we all let the bloke know he was a knob!!
  • Only decided to go to the game at the very last minute.  Glad I did.  Very poor 1st half but much better 2nd half.  In the end a decent game between 2 good footballing sides.

Green's cross for the goal was 1st class & Chris Powell may have found a real gem in Kermit, looks like he is going to be very good at this level.  Not a big Hayes fan but thought he actually had a decent game.

Solly once again was superb apart from the penalty, wasn't sure it was a pen at 1st but having seen it again it was fair enough.

Hamer seems to grow in confidence with every game!

All in all a decent game with a draw probably a fair result although either side could of nicked it at the end.

Final point.  As much as I hate everything MK Dons Football Club stands for, its a very nice ground!!  Will look even better when its finished!!

    Very happy with a point!

Definatley an og from my view. Will get taken away via dubious goals panel for sure.
  •  (us 6+footers get screwed at crowds around the country)

Lucky you us 5'8'' ers just get a soggy burger!!

  • sollys worse game of the season by a mile but he has been one of if not our best player this season so no worries
him and wagstaff were woeful first half as were hollands and stephens and solly got away with ducking under a cross in the 2nd half when a forward was behind him, that was fortunate
hamer made a save in the first that fatty would have properly struggled to get down to , one of the numerous worldy long rangers that he was always unlucky to get beaten by , although hamer had a flap in the second half for a cross but i like the way he sweeps up as well, i dont think his distribution is that good but deffo a better keeper all round
hollands had his poorest game as well the game in main passed him by
danny green , not the full ticket but wow that is a proper cross , start that man , come in no.11 your time is up
we really weren't at the races today for 75 per cent of the game but once we got going looked good , more than happy to take a point
as for the purple one , i think he was trying to goad the chief steward to come and get the ball back but the steward totally blanked him as if to say i'm not bothered , maybe he was hoping to kill some time so we could hold on for a point , as a side note there was an attractive young blonde down there with him so maybe he was trying to impress .....epic fail

saturdays a  big game and a point would be a result , i just think we're getting a way with less than 100 per cent performances and we will come unstuck soon but hopefully not against sheff u
    agree with rudders22 ....20 % autos 80 % it's play off drama
    as slater would say "onwards"

MK Dons steward here (and Charlton fan, I must add). Chief steward ? I'll tell him that ! From what I heard, the purple one was getting some feedback from other fans on the way out, so much so that the stewards were keeping an eye on him, more for his own safety. Congrats on the point, and being the loudest set of fans at the stadium so far. Hope the journey back wasn't a bad one.
  • yeah the stewards were on one with the sitting /standing etc

plenty of room in that end for everyone to be accomodated however they wished to watch the game

next time i'll say hello if you don't look so scary !!
They normally only get bothered if the standing is unsafe (blocking stairways and the like). There is plenty of room to stand in the seats. If you noticed, we do get our lot to sit down as well.
  • Traffic getting home was a nightmare, having to que for over half hour to get on the dartford bridge was an absolute joke, as was all the lane closures on M1/M25. And the amount of roundabouts in MK with litterally no signs on or off them, pointless pointless town, just a mass of stupidly large warehouses.

Anyways back to the ground - seats were comfy and at last a ground with leg room (us 6+footers get screwed at crowds around the country) but a very hollow souless ground. And not a chance there were 8k ppl in that crowd, closer to a 4k. did they just 'give away' about 4k season tickets to pl who simply do not show and never will?? Burger was good though, probably one of the best I've had in a football ground.

First half we were very poor, infact the worst I've seen us this season/pre season. Midfield were chasing shadows and no1 could find a red shirt - we just ddin't look very sharp/fit and couldn't get into the game. Pen - first instance I was horrified but in fainress was a stone wall pen and everyone around me also agreed, very clumsy challenge.

Second half we looked alot better but again still not great, other than a couple of 5 min spells where I'm not quite sure how we didn't score in either of them. Green and Kermit made a difference, suddenly we had a winger who wasn't running into dead ends and actually taking on the LB as was proved with a perfect delivery for Kermits goal. Was really annoyed with Green before this as he bottled a 50/50 where we had men in the box and were looking in control. But the second that cross was headed in though he looked a completly different player full of confidence, control and a real threat.

Overall would have taken a point before th game and personally had this one down a score draw, still think if we'd turned up in the first half or just put away some of the numerous chances we created second half we would and should really have won that game.

As long as we beat them at home then you can't complain with a point away.

Oh good support from us as well, we litterally sucked the ball into the net and think our crowd really urged on our players to try to win the game - other than th twat in the purple, who was being escorted out of the game by police and stewards as I left.

Ground is a bit soulless, it's built with Champs football in mind. The atmosphere was fantastic when Northampton Saints were here for 2 games. 8k people just get lost when they are spread out so much. And you can't hear the jewelry being shaken in the corporate boxes ! If we get promoted, then we should attract more people away from Ikea or the sofa.
  • Interesting blue1. Ta.

Who was the Charlton fan who rang talksport last night..... think his name was Danny the Charlton fan who said he would rather go up via the play offs so he can go to wembly? Anyone? Host was unimpressed with this view.
  • That's just too easy I'm afraid.

If Danny would prefer the play offs to go up,then he will have to accept the play offs to stay down too.  Automatic please, if we want wembley then lets do the JPT
  • Does Danny not remember that going into the the play-offs does not a) guarantee promotion and b) a visit to Wembley?!
  • 3 points about the game/trip
Firstly from where I was sat which was not too far from the near post the ball  hit the post and then the back of the keepers leg before crossing the line.

Secondly the idiot in the purple was just a couple prat, we had them properly on the ropes, so he decides it would be a good idea to take all the momentum out of our play so he can show off in front of his mates .

Thirdly, the traffic back was an absolute joke. Four sets of major road works but with only 1 lot of work actually going on.

A good point gained overall though

Ah! You did not read my post, you and I must have been sitting next to each other!!
  • Bletchley Park, MK Dons and Whipsnade Zoo. A really good couple of days. We wore our 'Keep Calm and Carry On' shirts to the game as I reckoned we would come off very badly if we started to panic. First half we were very sluggish, almost indifferently slow to the ball and didn't close them down. I just had that feeling that MK Dons were going to score at any moment. The fact that they didn't owed a lot more to Ben Hamer and some surprisingly poor finishing than good play from us. But................ we did indeed 'Keep Calm' and fought back. Kermit and Green changed the game and I was delighted with both the players attitudes and the point.

having watched it a few times it doesn't appear to hit the keeper to me, just the inside of the near post. BTW there is no dubious goals panel in League One.

    We did Bletchley Park too.

No it doen't look like it on the video highlights but you'll have to trust those that were behind that goal, it came off the back of the keepers leg. Looking at the replays there, it won't get chalked off.
  • that is what I thought at the time............but then I also thought it finally went in off the far post

    deffo Kermit's goal

Stone I was there and thought and said at the time that it hadn't hit the keeper. I just think the way it hits the bottom of the post at an angle and cannons behind the keeper makes it look like it hit him.
  • Reading through the posts it sounded like mk frauds started at 100 mph, I couldn't see them sustaining that tempo, was important to get in at half time in contention, Great halftime period to relax take stock and re group,

which it seems we done, great subs at the right time all in a great nights work

  • it definately hit the keeper and wouldn't have gone in if it hadn't.
  • it definately hit the keeper and wouldn't have gone in if it hadn't.

Agreed. Unfortunately I was two rows and just to the left of the goal and could see the angle clearly. Hit the post and came back off the back off the keepers legs. But hey lets not fight about it. If there is no dubious goals committee then the keeper won't be claiming it the video evidence does not suppoprt it and Kermit will take it
