A lot has been spent in the past on the infrastructure of the club. Fans moan when money has been spent on hospitality etc... but this revenue brings in more revenue and makes the club more sustainable. What happened wih the players they lost is simple - Howe managed to put together a side that was significantly better than what the club could afford to pay them. A bit like when we lost Scott Parker. The only difference is that in the lower leagues the money you get for them is much lower than in the Premiership. We didn't want to sell Parker but he made things sufficiently difficult so we had to.
You only have to see that the Francis deal fell through due to not being able to accomodate the player's wages to see what the club are up against. Delighted that they have won their last 2 and hopefully this will persuade the fans to get behind the team and ensure they stay up this year. The money being spent by the board is towards making the club bigger and sustainable in the longer term and they have a beef with stay away fans that despite success on the pitch - gates haven't reflected this.
Mitchell isn't running the way with the money as a previous chairman recently did. Maybe his diplomatic skills are a bit wanting but ultimately he wants the same as the fans. If he raised wages to levels that the club can't sustain they would be back to square one. I know the board there vowed never to allow the club to get into the mess it was in and fans have very short memories- too short sometimes.
Back to the game on the pitch, it was good to see the Cherries had a win last week. I am hoping that my prediction of a disasterous relegation season was wrong. I've always had a soft spot for AFC Bournemouth going back to John Bling Bond and the phenomenal Ted McDougall
Yes agree- looks like a lot of us have a soft spot for them. A very nice place to visit too- unlike most other places!!! Maybe we should make them the CL seond team lol.

Same old from 'informed fans'. £2 million made, £500,000 spent. Where's the rest? Maybe bigger wages for old players, wages for new players, national insurance contributons, general upkeep, tax payment on transfers, signing on fees, agent fees and a fair other things as well. Why aren't we spending? Bournemouth are a club that are League One or Two in size. We're fat bang in the champ size atm. Doesn't mean you get what you deserve certainly if you spend money. If he says they have 1.4 million, if they buy players or not they won't have it for long.

put it to the vote.
Biased anyway, but Yes. How about a Thread about "If CL had a "favourite second team out of the 92, Who would it be", but, without upsetting/annoying that team as I hope they don't feel we're patronizing them.
Well done on your great start to the season - very good job considering the number of new players in. Things have settled down a bit here... to be fair to Mitchell he's apologied for his pitch confrontation and also made more effort to communicate with the fans via weekly videos (although massively restricted access for the local paper). It's definitely helped that we've signed some good players like Shaun MacDonald, Stephane Zubar and Wes Thomas - I'd settle for mid table this season.
