Brighton O Meter

  • The proof of the pudding is after xmas..........january, feb, march -   teams that get promoted start to pull away by not dropping points, grinding out results when not playing well & then winning games by 3 or 4 when they are.

we did this in 99/00 - probably one of out best seasons ever. 13 straight wins and never looked like losing. I remeber 2-0 down at h/t home to tranmere and we came out and scored 3 to win the match..........that is what Brighton, Norwich Saints & Leeds did recently. I lost count the number of times they scored goals in the 93rd minute to get a win.........3 points is a lot better than 1 at that stage in the season..

  • Can we have a Norwich O meter as well ;)
    Norwich 2009 - 2010

    P : 5     W : 2      D : 1    L : 2    Pts : 7
    F : 10      A :  12

Norwich had 45 points by  Boxing Day , but didn't go top till 23rd January , after which they stayed there.
  • The general rule is 2pts a match will see you into the auto spots. That's what we need to head for.

I'd be happier with 4pts per game
  • Win every game from now till the last game of these season and see where that gets us, we have dropped enough points already so we can't afford to drop anymore ,

How simple is that no need for any o meters

On a serious point I like the idea of all the o meters ,

    Brighton

    Saints

    Posh

    Norwich

    Leeds

    Mill small

    And our play off one,

Good idea just putting it together could be tricky
  • ......... basically if you want promotion you normally work on the 2 points per game average over the season
That's in fact how managers look at it.

....alternatively work on 3 points per game which is more of a positive approach....;o)
  • I'll never forget my Dad always saying to me the old rhyme:

    A win at home,

    a draw away

    brings promotion any day.

That'll do me.  Of course that adds up to an average of 2 points a game!  Like the Brighton-o-meter idea - but not until around Christams.

  • Yes, can't think of a season when 2 points a game wouldn't mean automatic promotion - but it is easy to fall behind on this - you need to be consistently picking up 3 points- a run of draws really set you back.

League table for every week of every season back to 58/59 http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-one/2010-2011/table/2010-09-11

Just change the date in the drop down box in the top right
  • That's great Scoham, I'll include something in the STATBANK with the Exeter stats, and see how it goes.
  • At this stage in 2006 we were above Arsenal
  • Well done Scoham , interesting to see only 1 team in the top 6 ended up getting promotion in the end ... scary!
