Phil Parkinson vows to keep track of Paul Benson for possible new Bradford City bid in January
City are still keen on landing Paul Benson – but not until the next transfer window.
The Charlton striker remains on Phil Parkinson’s list as he looks to pep up the club’s frontline.
“We’re working on a few things and speaking to one or two people. There’s money there in terms of wages for a loan player but we’ve got to get the right type
But the new boss played down hopes of bringing the player in this week on an emergency loan.
League clubs can go back into the loan market from tomorrow but Parkinson believes Benson will be off limits.
Instead, City will consider making a fresh bid for the 32-year-old in the January window.
Parkinson said: “I don’t think we’ll be revisiting Benson in terms of a loan. The time to do that may be in January.
I hope that there is not now sone hidden agenda with Benno, seems clear that CP is not overly keen to me but after Monday I think it's clear that as much as Jase was great for us years ago he clearly doesn't offer much when up top... Benno from the bench seems the more natural choice....to me at least

Different players - Euell came on to hold the ball up and do the job that Hayes did, while Benson I see more as a replacement for BWP, however I'd sooner have Benson on the bench than Euell, or perhaps Pritchard. I made the point in the post-match thread that Megson had two strikers on the bench, while we had in Euell, an attacking midfielder and for more defensively minded players. SW came to get a point and got it, I can see teams coming to the Valley and simply playing 4-5-1 or some variation to stifle us in midfield and doing what SW and Scunthorpe before them did.
May just be me but I rate Euell more as a striker than a midfielder - think he worked well as a midfielder for Curbs in the hole behind the front 2 when we played 3-5-2 for a season - but when we reverted back to a 4-4-2 I felt he wasn't good enough as a centre-mid in a 4 man midfield.
Still think that he can score goals at this level as an out and out striker .....given the right service - which was not forthcoming on Monday. Think Benson is very similar - will score if given the service but does not have the skill or pace to create something out of nothing and to be fair its not going to be easy to find such a player at L1 level
I think he's a good player, would be better this year than last due to Green being here now. However, what good is he sat in the stands? He could be the worst's ebst player, but eh won't help the team sitting in the stands.
Give him a chance or sign a striker you have more faith in, Powell. With Euell being more than able to play in midfield, we could have two strikers on the bench.

He was a player who could carve out chances for himself; trouble was he invariably missed them.
Anyway, he's younger than Jase.
What d'you reckon, Benno?
;o)
