I think I'm going to wait for the amazon tablet. Rumoured to be coming out in October in 7 and 10 inch formats. They'll be selling at below cost in a play station like business model, making the profit on ebooks, videos, music, apps and cloud services (makes sense as they already have all those abilities in place). If the 7" model comes out at £199 then I'll snap it up.
A lot of expertise here. I am looking at something light to stick on my motorbike and use around the world to get emails, download photos, use skype and write articles etc. but large enough to watch movies. Around £200 which would include second hand if necessary.
Friends seem divided between tablet and something like a Toshiba Portege.
Managed to get one of these on monday...the only advantage working for dixons! Android should be available for this soon enough which will be good.
@ Floyd try searching for the Dell Duo netbook/tablet or similar type machines. They are usually quite small and fold in on themselves so you can use as a tablet or a full laptop. HP used to make a few of these which you may be able to pick up cheap on ebay etc.

For anyone that got one, these might be useful to get it working faster and for apps etc
