Biggest disappointment (on the pitch) this season for me. Looks slow, overawed, nervous and an accident waiting to happen. Where is that all-action battling midfielder chipping in with a few goals now and then?
He started last season well, but faded after the triplets were born. Didn't the Bournemouth Supporters say he tended to fade as the season went on, which suggests his fitness isn't brilliant for an engine room midfielder.
He had a serious toe injury at the end of last season and had to have the toe fused in the summer. This means he has no movement in the toe at all. This must affect his pace and game.
Last season for me Hollands was one of our constants. This year i really expected him to be the same. Sadly at the moment he is not looking up to it. He is certainly playing a lot deeper this season which i don't think is his strength, having said that i think the whole team is playing a lot deeper. It would be nice to have a proper defensive midfielder in front of the back 4 which allow Stephens/Holland/Jackson to push further up the field and become more a threat. We are inviting teams to attack us and this long ball rubbish is making all our midfield look poor and nervous.
Really hoping he turns things around. Having said that i am really hoping the whole team turn things around :-)

I heard that was caused by TJ driving over his foot, another thing to blame on him.
I like him too. He is an honest sort of player and what you see is what you get with Danny. Unfortunately his lack of any pace means IMHO that the Championship is a bridge too far for him. Hope I'm wrong.

I believe that When Tony Met Danny it was more like this ;-) Relevant action from 11.25:

This is also what I was told. Hollands knows he's not playing well & agrees he deserved to be dropped. I think it has now affected his confidence as well.
Unfortunately I think the championship is a step too far for him, same as, imo, taylor, hughes, evina, wagstaff, clarke and possibly Kermorgant (love the guy but had been a shadow of his self before his injury) and if we are to survive and build a solid foundation for next year, we will need better than him.
Sam3110, Kermy aside, how many games in the Championship have that lot played between them this season on which your informed opinion is based? Kermy will come good.like all strikers he needs some sort of service.
Hollands I agree is struggling and we can't afford to keep giving him games to find his form, much as I liked him last season, because as we all know midfield is the root of our difficulties.
Sometimes it's about the blend of players that really counts not just the individual. Last season when Stephens was injured Danny Hollands was paired with Andy Hughes subsequently in my opinion the team and Hollands played their best football as he was able to get into the box more frequently as Hughes did the covering job. This isn't a criticism of Stephens just an observation.
For now Hollands needs to be dropped as he is low on form and confidence and indeed he may be playing above his level now but I think we need a better defensive midfielder if we are to have any chance in this league.

Never said my opinion is informed, but usually there's a reason why players haven't already played in a higher division, and in the case of some of our players it's probably because they've never been good enough to. From what I saw of them last season, Taylor, Hughes and Clarke (albeit limited viewing of Leon, thankfully) will not make the step up. Wagstaff might, but the fact that Powell has sent him out on loan suggests it's doubtful, Evina can't get a game ahead of a right midfielder playing right back and a right back playing left back, which again points to a lack of overall ability for this division, and Kermorgant just wasn't at the races before his injury.
I liked Hughes - thought he was unlucky. But we now have Dervite to play the role he would have come back to. I agree with you Sam that Kermorgant was not at his best before his injury but I have confidence in him when he comes back. Evina looked perfectly good enough on last night's showing.
What was noticeable was that the midfield looked the part with neither Danny or Dale in it. I like them both, but I like the way we played without them better....
Far from what I was expecting. You'd of thought he would go there all guns blazing and put a shift in for Swindon! PDC is probably more than qualified to judge a players commiment of lack of.
Hollands asked us if he could go out on loan and made the decision to travel further away from young triplets simply to play football.
Doesn't sound like the actions of someone who doesn't care. Also the fact two loan players were brought on at half time suggests the players who started (presumably permanent) weren't "affecting the game" much either.

I can't imagine the triplets aren't a factor, but the toe injury has to be a factor too. And I too hope he can turn it around, I like him.

Popped up in the box for a few goals last season (including that stunner v PNE in the cup). Half the player playing alongside Stephens

He's always attacking his own players in public. Nightmare manager.
Who'd want to play for him?

I agree, makes you wonder who was to blame for the bust up he had with Leon Clarke.
