If we had to keep 1 who would it be Francis or McCormack?

  • Francis. Al Mack really hasn't impressed in any of his games but Francis seemed to improve towards the end of the season.
  • Francis. He not be that great a player , but at least he played with some respect for the club. McOxo showed no respect and is no good.
  • McFrancis
Hahahha imagine a McFrancis... Would be awful. We wuld be in non-league before Icould say McFr...a.....
  • McFrancis
    A Mcfrancis.. i'd bet they'd get in a Mcflurry.

    Mc Fluffit more like.
  • Unlike others, I liked Francis. I think he would benefit Charlton if he stayed but I don't blame him for going if he goes. The only think I liked about McCormack was his aggression and he never gave up. Unfortunately, he was sh*t.

I'd rather Francis stayed but I wouldn't lose sleep if he went.
  • Out of interest, can you give an example of when mccormack bottled it? Huge generalisations being banded about. He wasn't the best on the left-wing, but that's probably because his position is defensive mid.

Francis is pretty awful, in my opinion, so I am happy to see him moved on. Although, I agree with one of the comments above- that he will come back to haunt us, as is the tradition with all former players.

His performance at Dagenham was shameful.

Cant remember the game at the Valley where he shirked the tackle, but imo Duncan Norvelle would be more of an enforcer.

All he ever did was stroll round contributing nothing but the odd mouthful at a team mate.

    Master criminal.

  • Fair enough, but everyone was awful at Dagenham. Don't really think he was given a fair crack in his natural position, other than at the very start of the season when he looked very promising. The OXO tower incident seems to be his downfall. Something, that I feel was taken completely out of context but also something that he profoundly regrets doing.

I was interested re reading the Orient thread and I agree Mcoxo had his moments . Ironically , the other performance that stands out for me for the right reasons was away in the Cup against Spurs . Like some ( although not all ) on here I try to be optimistic especially about new players , I certainly believed after the first couple of games he was going to be a good player at this level . It seems a lifetime ago that we signed Mcoxo , Worner , Francis and Abbott last summer . Players who probably would not get near our side now.

The Daggers away game sticks in the memory for the wrong reasons, I am reminded by something that Parky said when commenting on Grant Basey's star performance for Barnet against us in the Cup . He said the key at this level is about consistency and not necesarilly ability.

As others have said he has struggled partly because we are a bigger club than those he has previously played for and I think it was said by some Southend fans that he was never the same player following an injury .

Whatever he does I wish him well.

  • Some very balanced views here , well summed up.

What do you base that on ?

Because this is what he told me.
