millwall testimonial/freindly

edited July 2011 in General Charlton
Went and got my ticket, asked how many we've sold and I got told 100. Then asked how many we got given, I got told 2000. Sounds like its gonna be a good atmosphere ;)

  • cousins going down on friday to get ours, hopefully the squad will be complete and we get to see what could be the side that plays bournemouth first game
  • A game (despite being meaningless) that I think we have a chance of winning, which won't do the morale any harm.
  • Who the F is Richard Dunne anyway?

  • Was it after the last friendly that our friends from the toolbox attacked the Market Porter - or was that the league game?
  • I believe after the last friendly they smashed up a hairdresser next to that cavarvan site just outside the stadium.

  • I haven't seen Millwall play for 20 years. I miss every Charlton game when we play them. I don't recognise them as a football club, and I refuse to watch them at any match. That applies to Palace, although I will watch them at the valley. After the last game at Selhurst I swore I would never go back until it was cleaned, it never has been. That said, the landlord in the pub opposite ( I think he used to play for Millwall ) was a great bloke. He used to make everyone drink out of a glass, not bottle swigging. I wonder what he would have said to pink boots ?

That was after we played Palace.
  • How much are the tickets? sure some will be available to get on the day?
  • I don't like giving Millwall or Palace my money, but this is a testimonial so I suppose Millwall don't benefit.
  • 13 pound tickets, Got mine a week ago

  • "I don't recognise them as a football club"

    Millwall - the new Palastine?

  • Not exactly stimulating much excitement our end either. Dunne has been a much maligned player over the years and isn't exactly a fan favourite, although he has turned a lot of views around over the past 2 seasons.

I went to the last friendly and I'm not going to this one. One of the reasons I'm not bothering is that we've played each other in the league fairly recently, whereas at the time of the last testimonial we hadn't. And, I'd never been to the New Den.
  • Asked a non-Charlton mate of mine if he wanted to go and he asked whether it was home or away - to which my other mate replied along the lines, "the way it works with friendlies is that the bigger more established club plays away at the lesser smaller club - it's at Millwall".

    Nice one Cuff old son!

So how do you know it hasn't been cleaned, if you've not been back ?

    Alan Dunne
  • Will be with my Millwall mate, as usual in the blue end. Will need a programme to identify our players. We'll get stuffed as usual I suppose. Mind you they still haven't properly replaced Morison. Henderson ? is a bit pony.
  • We'll turn them over in this one ........ when it doesn't matter.
  • Lol you no them so well
  • Looking forward to this one a couple of my best freinds are Millwall, but i will def be sitting in the away end! Should be good as i missed the Welling game to see our new signings getting a run out. Wouldnt mind giving Racon some slipper too.

  • I think you will find that we took more fans to Welling than we will to Scumthorpe, that says it all.

  • What exactly does that say to you then Granpa?

To me it says that Welling is virtually walking distance for many fans, that it's the first football "fix" for a couple of months and the first opportunity to cast the eye over our (many) new signings. Would be surprising if we DIDN'T take lots of fans to that one.

Do "scumthorpe" stand for who I think they do? Or just a typo?

I'm coming with a group of Charlton, Millwall and others.
Going to start in the Standard then work our way up. Should be a jolly good time.
Is anyone going to wear their CAFC shirts? I want to but my mate reckons its a bad idea.
  • What are the expectations surrounding time spent waiting after the end of the match. I want to get back on the train, but I'm assuming the Charlton end will be kept in for a while, how long should we expect?

At least we know that the majority going will be wanting to make some noise and giev a good representation of the fans, really looking forward to it now.
  • Miffed that I can't go to this.

I reckon you will be absolutely fine wearing a charlton shirt to the game @EastStand
  • I think so too! Fuck it, I might wear two of them, one for each half.
