After Rich Cawley tweeter yesterday about having stories about Danny green and an un-named player in todays South London Press, was just wondering if anyones seen these yet? If so fancy filling us in?
Palace could be doing us a favour getting Rhodes, weakens Huddersfield who have already lost Peltier.
True although I suppose it depends on where they put the proceeds... could mean more competition in the transfer market for us or overall a better balance in the squad of a competitor. Swings and roundabouts I suppose.
Its basically what we already know in the SLP,we are 1 of 4 teams in for Green and 1 of a number of teams in for Stephens, just a rehash of whats been on here in the past couple of days.
Maybe I'm reading it wrong but that article would suggest we are the only club to have had an offer accepted (as of yet) which was unknown to us before, was it not?
"bigger fish to fry" Lennie is starting to creep up my arse a bit these days. Just sounded like a dig at us.
Yeah, he's definately gone to the dark-side. Jordan Rhodes? lol. I thought they aint got a pot to piss in? Sounds to me like he's just throwing out a name the nigels would be happy with whilst looking on with green eyes at the sight of their neighbours putting together a promotion winning squad.
Funny that Lennie is assistant manager yet seems to be the one who constantly puts the spin on everything. It's summed up by the fact that I honestly (without trying to sound flippant) can't remember who their manager is (nor do i give a toss)

They're banking on getting extra ST ticket income from all of those Palace fans in Greenwich
it's more a question of how much other teams rate him and if they're willing to pay, i think it's on our side because as strange as it sounds were league one.
he knows this league and we know he can perform in it, are other teams willing to pay 400k for a unproven championship player. let's just hope they lose interest and he comes into us!
To be fair to smiffyboy, he brought the name Dale Stephens up before Sky or the SLP or anyone else from what I could see had anything on the story, bit of a coincidence... but who knows?
And with what WIWLB says it would make sense that charlton are trying to tie this deal up before anyone else gets a sniff of his availbilty and price so i reckon there may be legs in the US story
Erm I think we might actually need to sign some! Counting those defenders who are old enough to drink, have a contract and can actually walk... we have:
Can someone explain to me, why players can't sign while they are on holiday? It's not like they shut down the whole world outside while away.
I don't know but I'd guess for two reasons:
1. Because they are on holiday - the whole purpose of it to have a break. If you said you could sign when on holiday, you'd open yourself up to constant calls and botherment from agents, managers, hacks and so on. Far better to leave it all behind and say, I'll be contactable when I'm back.
2. Because signing isn't as simple as that. You want to see the club, check out the training facilities, meet the manager (and perhaps some other players/staff to get a fee for the place). The club will require a medical and I don't think that means you can walk into any private GP's office and say, "tell them I haven't got a dicky ticker". I suspect that clubs insist on it being the club doctor (or at least one on a set list) and that the testing equipment may be a little more sophisticated than in your average GP's surgery.
Although we have to be careful in this day and age I would suggest that deals can be made without actually being "done" any place any time... for example as we saw with Paul Hayes. Him agreeing to join and the club reporting that he'd signed are two very different landmarks. If the Green transfer is serious and the club are going to spend £400,000 on him that is a phenomenal amount of money for this club in its very recent history. I cannot see us leaving much to chance.
I don't doubt we're after defenders, but what we've got will look better with a better midfield shielding them
Agreed. May also be an easier sell after we've plucked a couple more midfielders... come and be a part of this and we aren't feeding you the same old twaddle, we're serious, look who we bought/what we spent just last week.
