  • And we play them at home pre-season.

    You couldn't make it up!
  • FFS!

Knocked out in the first round and we don't even get a good away day.
  • Is there a chance we'll both look for different teams in pre-season or is it too late?

  • We won't be the favourites for once... we might actually win!
  • ooooooooooooo a possibility of a giant killing in the first round
  • 0-1.

    4,987.

  • Some other interesting games in the draw, Leeds v Bradford, and Forest v County. Police overtime central

    Course we do.

A replay at Elm Park the Madge thingyski Stadium on a a wet Wednesday night, when we lose 2-1 in added time after leading 1-0 for 85 minutes.
  • Was hoping to get someone a little more exciting
  • No replays in the couldn't Careless cup

  • What in the 1st Round ......?

Well maybe Wet Spam, Millwall or Dismal Palarse?

  • On the upside, the first half of this game probably won't turn out to be the highpoint of the season.
  • hopefully Reading do a Swindon this season and we get through to lose against Barnet or someone of equal standing
  • No replays in the couldn't Careless cup
    You're right Rothko. I'd forgotten.

So Valley Fred was right,  No exciting away day.

I'll amend my previous comments to ........when we lose 2-1 in added time after leading 1-0 for 85 minutes.

    ;o)

C Palace v AFC Wimbledon or Crawley

    Plymouth v Millwall

    W Ham v Aldershot

  • I think it's a good draw, except for one thing:  I bet it dents the crowd for the friendly.
  • The friendly is unlikely to go ahead.

Sensible thinking by the Club imo. I was going to go to the friendly but was doubtful when the cup game was announced.
  • hummm, depends how seriously both teams take it, reading will see it as an easy tie and will deffo drop one or two first team players, PROMOTION is the be all and all for us this season so i would play the kids in carling cup and and paint trophy get knocked out nice and early although one or 2 may come to the fore and nick a couple of results here and there, give the FA Cup the credit it deserves and feild a full strength team depending on opponets, no point in risking injury suspensions tiredness for competions a) we wont win and b) will just increase the amount of games we play and thus take its toll on the playing staff.

  • Great draw. Hope that Powell has nurtured a settled eleven by then. Just six/seven weeks between the contract end day of June 30th and the start of the cup games.

I can see us winning this one in front of a big crowd. Reading will still have a hangover after the play off loss and a new bunch of Addicks players will be raring to go.

  • The friendly is unlikely to go ahead.
No home friendly or a different opponent?
  • Feels like a good game to me. Don't understand why the friendly shouldn't go ahead - it would be the same for both teams.

  • what a boring tie, was hoping for an away game. ah well first round exit it is

nice to see you entering the new season in an optimistic mood, cheer up Mike
  • What do we think the attendance will be?

And do you reckon that all the stands will be open?

Just another note, it could be our first home game of the year so that will boost the attendance.
  • Frankly we need to get out of this poxy cup competition asap so that we can concentrate on the league. We are going to have such a small squad we are going to need to keep matches to a minimum. I would guess that we'd struggle to make any money out of this tie, so we'd probably be just as well off to offer Reading a bye and be done with it.
  • I wouldn't think we will open all stands. It's very unlikely we will use the west upper. There will have to be a discussion about the north. It wasn't very well used for Luton, considering that people asked for it to be opened

underwhelmed?, statistically Reading is the best remaining championship club from last season. Who did you fancy Real Madrid at Wembley?
