Yeah 100% going there with a 2 goal lead you should absolutely make the final. But i wouldn't be surprised if Bodo score early and it goes horribly wrong.

As I said to the fellas last night - if you're 3-0 or 3-1 down at HT in the tie, what club would you want it to be against?!
Funnily enough, we all said Spurs...

Dr Tottenham will see you now...

I hadn't realised quite how far north Bodo was. Extraordinary that the top club in Norway can be based in such  a remote backwater.

It really doesn't say much for this competition when the 14th and 16th placed teams from the PL are going to the final. Interestingly the results between Spurs and Man U this season were:

    Man U 0 Spurs 3 - PL
    Spurs 4 Man U 3 - League cup
    Spurs 1 Man U 0 - PL

Based on that it seems pretty inevitable that United are going to win the final.
Another way of looking at it is that given the disparity in revenue and playing budgets between the English clubs and nearly every club they play in the EĹ, it is a poor reflection on the PL that English clubs do not have two in the semis every season.

There needs to be a conversation about the Conference League, which has failed in its objective for smaller nations to win something, it's been an England/Italy thing in the main, with the occasional Spanish interest

This may well become the norm in the Europa moving forward.

With the new CL format you don't get clubs dropping out of that down into the Europa now, so you'd expect PL clubs to be amongst the favourites to win it every season.

This year is slightly unique as there are 2 "super league" clubs, both having dismal seasons in the PL, so thus able to devote themselves to winning the EL, instead of juggling it with a Top 4/5 finish.

I've always been a big fans of rewarding teams that win things. Winning the EL to reach next season's CL feels a much more earned prize than finishing 5th to reach the CL.

A fair point but next year we could have Villa and Chelsea in it, and i'd fancy both of them to go far as well.

260/1 for Bodo v Bilbao final.
Had to have a couple of quid on it as if spurs and Utd both concede early goals, they are capable of imploding.

Tbf both are capable of imploding from decent winning positions within a game as well, especially Spurs who have almost become a parody of themselves as losers.

Maddison out for the season, along with Bergvall.

There goes every last ounce of creativity out of the starting XI.  Only Kulusevski is capable of playing the 10 role but he's come back from injury wearing concrete boots by the looks of it.  If he can find the form he was in before Christmas and the massive run of injuries, we may have a chance.

You'd have to put United as favourites now, assuming both go through.

As bad as United are domestically (although i do think there is an element that they gave up long ago), in Europe they seem to play reasonably well. They're not going to lose by 4 goals at home.

Spurs however are a different story, they will definitely be in trouble if they concede first.

Given that ticket allocations are a pretty hot topic on this forum currently, i've just read that Spurs' allocation for Bodo Glimt away tonight is..........404, of which 10 are for wheelchair/assistants.

So 394 tickets for a European semi final!

I wanted the all English final, great to see 2 English clubs desperate to win the Europa League, and the all PL nature will really up the size of the occasion.

Plus it will be funny whoever loses  :D

I want Spurs to win for Ange -

Followed him here in OZ and have a lot of time for him.

Would love it if he won and shoved the press' face in it.

He has handled the pressure exceptionally well in my view.

I cannot stand him. And neither can every single one of my Spurs mates.

Almost Liverpool like in his constant victim stance.

He’ll get pumped whether they win the final or not hopefully.

If Arsenal had a tougher last game than Southampton then there would be an outside chance, but i think it's practically impossible for them to slip that far because other sides will drop points. Chelsea still have to play Newcastle and Forest so they can't all win.

It is pretty funny though seeing them go from being in a title race to working out how many points they need to secure top 5.

The guaranteed schadenfreude of either Man U or Spurs ending the season with nothing but a bottom half finish is nice, but for me, I’d much rather we were laughing at Man U.

Apart from anything else, my perception is that Spurs want to win because they really want to win a trophy and Champions League qualification is a bonus, while for Man U, it’s the other way round. Champions League qualification seems to be the main driver for them and their fans. And that doesn’t sit right with me. It should be about winning, not having a chance to challenge next year.

Also, fuck Man U. They’ve won enough over the years.

Shall we just ignore their league performance?

Personally, and I know a lot of us feel like this, its all about the cup.  At the start of the season, I wanted the Europa above anything else.  We're 90 mins away from it.
There's a whole generation of the support that haven't seen us lift a European trophy.  To do that again, so long after '84 would be amazing.
It would be a game changer for the younger generation.

I think its totally wrong that winning it qualifies for the CL.  It would make much more sense if the winners defended the trophy the following season.
But then I also think 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th shouldn't qualify for the CL because I'm old school.  But UEFA wouldn't like that!

My view is the opposite. He sounds like a spoilt child ranting in a shop every time I hear his interviews.

Remember that time we nearly blagged our way into Europe via fair play spot…….until Jens Lehman got sent off in Champ League final or something which meant Prem League did not get the extra place?!?

Is the final only on TNT in the UK?
Aren't they showing the finals on terrestial TV anymore?
