According CD at the players dinner, he's still waiting for an offer from the board. Doesn't have an agent and is easy to deal with. And ML doesn't necessarily want to go back to Spain as his child is English and settled in the local area

  • Not on the OS yet and I asume that the Henry Irving law "Its only true once its on the OS" is no longer the case, South London Press - The Charlton Life and once it is old news OS.

And this is not knocking the guys in the communications department who do a good job with the resources they have,
  • It's only true when it's on Twitter

I stand corrected - thought I'd read somewhere that CD had said at the sponsors dinner that he had been offered a contract and Llera had said the same evening that he was heading back to Spain.

Re my earlier blunder, I meant McOxo and Francis - doh! Does anyone know if they're out of contract this summer? Would've thought they'd be most people's first choice to be shown the door.

  • Francis signed a two year contract. Unless he's going to be released/paid up he'll be here next season.
  • Cheers BFR the day was going quite nicely until you reminded me of that.

    @MrLargo

Just checked their profiles on the OS, confirms they did both sign 2 year deals

That doesn't mean they'll be staying of course. I know some will say "who would want them", but they did well enough for Southend (in and around the play-offs a few years ago), I'm sure they will get some interest if we're looking to get rid of them.
  • I have no doubt that Powell will look to get rid of both of them if he can. They may have looked good in a relegated Southend side but despite their efforts they are nowhere near good enough to play in a promotion seeking side.

  • I said "Or a team  like us", not worked out quoting yet.  And it was a throw away remark
  • somehow your picture is above bedaddicks picture kap10 with his words and yours ... amazing !
  • I'm seeking legal advice as we speek ;)
  • Own up all those who kept saying ''Why doesn't he play Tuna?''..........ha ha
  • I'm annoyed we'll never get a pairing of Sammon and Tuna upfront. But happy for another chance of Mambo getting the number 5 shirt.
  • Of those CP has let go, the only surprise is Ross Worner. Elliot needs to spend the summer, losing weight, improving his agility and learning how to deal with crosses.
  • Amazed Mambo has been given a deal. Likewise Davisson.

Neither will feature next year so dont see the point.
  • Regarding Mambo - centre-backs tend to develop later than most other footballers, that isn't a role that depends on athleticism and speed of foot but being tall, strong and making yourself an awkward player to play against. I would presume that CP has seen something in Mambo that sugests he should be given another year.
  • Even though McOxo, Francis etc are under contract I'm sure we could tel them that they are not part of the plans, tell them to find another Club and come to an agreement on the remaining year of the contract even if that means paying half or more as encouragement to go.
  • Davisson has a really bad injury 2 years ago so maybe the season just gone he was still gaining fitness aswell as developing physically (he looked 12 a couple of years back at Barnet) which is why he did not get near the bench or a team higher than Hastings, this must be last chance saloon however. Expect him to go on loan and hopefully play early doors next season.

As for Mambo, physically he is there but needs some first team football, hope he will go somewhere and play regularly as he has struggled to get a run of games anywhere. Powell obviously rates him enough and maybe sees him as the 2011 Shittu/Turner- ie someone who will be a good CB, just hopefully with us this time.

  • have any of u seen mambo plaY BTW
  • Yes, I have - a number of times. He's big but slow. I wouldn't have kept him on but earnestly hope I am proved wrong
  • Davisson has been on a terrible run of luck and circumstance.  Think Powell's giving him a chance because his injuries and personal life has taken a bit too much of a hammering for him to be able to show what he's capable of.  Seems 'Charlton' enough for me
  • Yes I have seen Mambo play. He was terrible at Shrewsbury.

Add in the fact that he has failed to impress at teams ranging from Staines Town to Eastbourne Borough and it is a no brainer.
  • Surprised too about Mambo, not pulled up tres on loan and never got near first team consideration despite us leaking goals. Seeing the comments made about Harriotts performance on Saturday some of those people should have seen Mambo at Shrewsbury.
  • Didn't Smalling get released from Millwall or somewhere only to end up playing for Margate? Mambo's got the attributes to be a quality defender, maybe just needs a bit longer to develop
  • He's definitely got the physical attributes but he needs someone to wake him up and fill his head. Hopefully it works out for both of our sakes.
  • Mambo lacks what we have lacked all season at centre half, pace.
