I am certain that Tuna, Llera, and Warner are leaving, no decision yet on Racon, Semedo or Dailly, unsure about other stuff.
Isn't it true that Sullivan has been released by Millwall? Is better than Warner in my view (although the hole for the Huddersfield FK worries me) and Sullivan competing with Robbie would be a good affordable answer, unless there is a brilliant alternative (and Weaver or a Weaveresque type player would not be a better option than Robbie/Sullivan). The bloke at Brentford would be a good signing.
We manifestly need to improve in defence, I thought Bessone looked better than usual yesterday and may be one to sign, I would love to see Francis off the books to free up some money, and we would need to sign a utility CB/RB to work in that position with Solly, we absolutely need a quality CB as Doc and Christian are not the answer as a pairing, and whenever others have a FK it scares me, maybe Herman would consider a drop in wages and league, otherwise or anyway we need to scout purposefully for a good quality CB.
If we can only afford one out of Racon/Semedo then it has to be Semedo...there was a hint of playmaker about Stewart yesterday, although I'm not sure...we really could do with a talismanic midfielder, and area of riches for us in the past...I don't suppose we could get Coppinger from Doncaster, but he may be a realistic target. I would agree we let Kyel leave if possible, keep Waggy and the emerging Harriott, and look to sign a player such as Danny Green to supplement a wide attacking position. We also look to have Jackson back and fit.
Up front I think we only really have BWP as Anyinsah (good player agreed) is made of glass, and Benno is really not good enough. On the subject of Benno if I were an opponent I would be quite relaxed playing against him but being mindful that someone has to keep him marked...Benno does not 'force the issue' like a BWP of Anyinsah does, he does not dominate at all, he scores by ghosting about, not what we need in my view. I think we need to bring in a couple of forwards providing we can release Benno at least to free up space and money for the squad.
Clearly we need to invest to have a chance, but maybe not a whole team
Macoxo is maybe a squad played very sub Semedo, and must play like the hard man he looks...otherwise he simply lacks the quality needed even in this division.
If we could trim a fair bit, be ruthless even, and spend some money (a 2mil warchest is unrealistic, but at this level would make all the difference), and then we have a chance.
Chris Powell is no fool, he cares about Charlton, but he must learn from his mistakes, and not repeat them...the most obvious one is not believing in what players say they can do, but managing according to what the players contribute in terms of results. next season Chris must win matches, perhaps by simplyfying things and not being too nice.
@Seth said a 2 million war chest is unrealistic. If the wholesale changes to the squad that are essential are to be made and Slater has said he wants a Championship quality squad then I think that 2 million is absolutely realistic or next season could easily end up like he last two.
It is unrealistic against our income yes, but I suppose any purchases are unrealistic if we're about balancing the books...so I make you right SHG that no spending will result in a worse season even than the last two. However my contention that it is unrealistic is that someone somewhere has to make the spondoolicks appear, and therefore we have to hope that there is some free money from somewhere.
Our average recorded attendance this season is 15,500, if we get crowds of 20,000 throughout next season each extra person paying an average of £20 then it might work thus 4500x23x£20= £2,070,000.

Supposedly we're in a decent financial state , due to the new owners settling things down but we'll only really find out how much they have spent/wasted over the course of time And it wasn't long ago that when The Mail/Mick Collins revealed how wank our finances were everyone was head in the sand refusing to believe murray and co could have gotten us so close to oblivion I'm suspicious of everyone , especially the new owners, who have no blind love to burn money on Charlton and will only be doing it to make financially which is a tough thing to do in football But obviously all we can do is hope As some have said above we need a huge overhaul in turns of first team players to have any chance of getting up and we'll see how serious these new guys mean business over the coming months Fingers crossed its gonna (hopefully) be an interesting summer cos we have to get out of this shit league for my own sanity if nothing else .
