To be dissapointed with the season since January seems to mean to some that one is anti powell or the board, I think for most of us it is far from the truth.
We want to see Powell succeed and we appreciate the new owners have saved the club from almost certainly going into administration.
It is legitimate after the run we have been on to question performances and results and the subsequent slide down the table. Who knows if we would have built on 5th or squandered it, its an opinion. I think we would have made the play offs and then we would have been in a lottery which Huddersfield or Southampton would have been favourites to win, as Ipswich and Sunderland had been a number of years ago.
If Parkie had stayed in place or an experienced manager had been brought in we MAY have been able to exploit what was left of the transfer window, after all if CP had brought in the players that he has subsequently brought in, at a time when we won 4 games on the trot and we were high on confidence from results, then he may have been able to build on the position.
Overall, the club has been disappointing and there is no evidence that next season will be remarkably better than this, however we have the clear out and the recruitment to come and then CP will prove his mettle and hopefully he will show more in the job than he has done so far, because I am not sure many of us pro or anti Parkie, pro or pro powell can stand another season of poor results as we have had over the last 5 months. And whilst this board may be tempered in its comments, i am not sure the fans I saw at Daggers will be quite so reticent to withhold their views in vitriolic fullness..
1) If the takeover hadn't happened, the club would have been in Administration by end of February.
Administration would have resulted in 10 points deducted.
In which case if Parky had stayed, there would have been no playoff.
Parky's team were unlikely to have been consistant or good enough to make up the disadvantage of 10 deducted points.
2) The takeover did happen - but if Parky had stayed in charge, could we honestly say his team would actually have made the playoffs?
Not only did teams like MK Dons, Peterborough and Rochdale make a late run from mid-table with consistant results, but the chances were that we would have still lost key players to injury (like Powell has).
IMO it would have been likely that the team still lost form at crucial times; after all, it had been the story of our season even under Parky.
Play off place this year? We might well have hoped so, but many doubted it.
Perhaps the new Board doubted it also.
oi i never said get rid after the 0-4 brighton debacle i said give him till the end of november and then keep him till the end of the season if it goes ok
i also said that i can understand why the new board had a punt by ooofing parky
it failed miserably but as a gambler i'm all for a gamble!
I don't see why you can't still support Chrissy but accept that Parky's sacking was harsh and not what the team needed. I wasn't for Parky being sacked and I do honestly beleive we would have done better had he not been - whether better would have ben good enough -nobody knows - I still think we would have made teh play offs but would have needed a lot of luck to get past them. Having said that, I was for Chrissy getting the job after Parky was sacked and whilst it hasn't been an easy few months, I think we have to give him a chance for the sake of the club. I don't think he can afford a poor start though next season and what we do in the summer is going to be massive

Surely he is supporting CP by only saying not wasting anymore money THIS season.
Now if you went to the shops and your purchase was sub standard would you keep going back and buying more ? doubt it

Good post, agree with all of that.
This will be the summer when we see if the Emperor really does have any clothes.

The future without the takeover?
We didn't have one.
When we don't get promoted next year....(and we won't)
I blame Razil.
Ooh Aah is usually right other than about Parky and he had us down for a nailed on play off spot in late December.....
The experiment that went wrong!
Not to say Powell cant turn it around next season though, although there is probably more chance of me winning the Marathon next week.

end of novemeber, beginning of december if we're not amongst it
Not wasting money on watching such poor performances - seems fair enough to me
Parky getting us to play offs - fair comment who really knows could of happened certainly in a strong place when he was sacked.
Frustracted like the rest of us but gets hassle, strange
