and have better things to do than watch a joke/experiment gone wrong

I firmly believe Parky would have got us in the play offs with some modest investment in January

sorry if that makes me not proper Charlton

  • Nothing to do with being proper Charlton but what are you hoping to achieve by posting this?
If you don't want to go, fair enough, but I doubt anyone else on here cares about it. Do you want to get more people to follow your lead? If so I find this strange/anti Charlton. Anyway well done!
  • Charltonised.
  • Looks a drunk posting to me seeing as Razil has a season ticket and doesn't go away games.

Did you mean you're going to bring your own hot dogs !
  • I can see what your saying...... However i will follow the charlton over land and sea . Through tough times and great times . Isnt that what being an Addick all about. ?
  • i dont have a season ticket i upgrade, and oddly not drunk, just very very low ebb on this whole mess..
  • Saving his money for a new fence
  • actually it costs more than a season ticket this way, hence I'm buying one this year

I want to devote more of my time and money to my son, and am fed up with the mess that the takeover has caused

good luck to you razil, nothing wrong imo sharing how you feel rather that than some of the blind love for a football club that produces these losers

each to his own nolly, my team is precious to me and I often take my daughter so its quality time, I'm just at the end of my tether in terms of going to watch the matches, as I said I've got a full st next year and two kids ones so I'm not bailing just had enough this year
  • Dont really understand .... you dont need to tell everyone your not going, just dont go
  • fair enough im sick of looking at them, but next year hopefully a good cull and onwards and upwards, but honestly think we will miss out again, just hope millwall stay away from the play offs, win or lose i dont want them having another day out.
  • yup this is Charlton Psych isn't it? darn wrong website..

It really annoys me when people come out with ridiculous overexaggerations on this. How has the takeover caused a mess? As far as we know, they have brought us away from the brink of oblivion financially, and seem on the whole to have pretty sensible, grounded and realistic ambitions and objectives for pushing the club forward. The Exeter initiative worked really well, they have knocked 50quid of the price of our season tickets and have said they are going to invest in the side in the summer. Okay, so the appointment of Powell hasn't worked out thus far but for fucks sake, be patient, whilst we were in the play offs with Parky anyway we were on the whole playing badly and quite frankly we could easily have capitulated in a similar fashion even if he stayed. Regardless, that is the only tangible "error" we can cite, and it certainly hasn't left us in a mess. We might have been in a mess if they had come in and thrown a load of cash at players under Parky in Jan and it had backfired.

Yes this season is over and was a potentially wasted opportunity but I very much doubt we could have got ourselves up anyway, Brighton Saints Pboro Hudds would always have overcome us even if we'd made it to the play offs. We can refresh in the summer and hopefully go in to next season with a reasonably positive attitude. Certainly we are in no more of a mess than when the takeover happened.
  • but no longer fifth....
  • Okay so the sole objective of our takeover was our league position 3 months later? Give me a break. Whether we'd finished 5th or 12th this season we weren't going up.
  • well the play offs are lotterys, this meek surrender of league position bodes very bad, dismal results the season ended in march which i personally think in this dire league is a utter piss take

  • It is appalling I entirely agree, especially given how bad this division is and how close we came last season despite being mediocre then. But the point I am making is that isn't necessarily the board's fault just because they got rid of Parky (who are large proportion of supporters had had enough of anyway, but now with the benefit of hindsight many now seem in favour of)

Out of Parky's final 8 games in charge, we won 1, an fa cup replay at non-league luton. otherwise, we were awful. Scraping a home draw with Bristol, that awful JPT performance at Brentford, almost losing the games at Brighton and Colch with a man over, and the two dire, dire performances against Walsall and Swindon. Very similar to the performances we been producing under Powell. That's what people have to see. Since Powell took over, we obviously haven't improved - but we haven't really got any worse - we were toss anyway and were heading in the direction that Powell has taken us. The side is shit regardless of who is in charge. The board tried to change it by bringing a new man in but it didn't work out. But they haven't caused a mess so people just need to see the whole picture and yeh, this season is over, but next season we will have an entirely different side so we just have to be patient now.
  • not blaming board and was happier than most that parkinson left but this is not how i thought it would go,powell is a good guy and could well turn it round next season, but after the brave move of sacking parkinson i was expecting somebody the opposite of powell, i have to say that was such a predictable choice when i think of it.
  • when we were 5th in the championship and playing shit everyone was shot down for pointing out the performances were crap etc and we finished 11th

this season the same has happened except we changed manager

It was so predictable, that no one on here guessed !

NB Paul Sturgess is right. It's been 3 months ffs. Not even Alex Ferguson could have got this team promoted.
  • ha ha well your wrong there then, because i said about five times no charlton legends please!!!
  • Dull, dull, dull.

1st half had some hightlights but been one of the worse seasons in my memory.
  • I seem to remember CP saying to SSN when he was unveiled that promotion wasn't the prerogative this year. I liked the proposals for the future and realised we may not go up as a result. That is happening now but the results and some performances have made it a little more difficult to endure.
  • Well its done. Not worth dwelling over it. Lets just look forward to summer and be back next season. If people don't wanna come back then thats fair enough. There is alot more to life than football and if people have other commitments that they'd rather spend their money on then thats up to them.

Absolutely spot on. Hope those that are so vehemently anti-Powell now wont be jumping on the bandwagon next season if things go all Brighton on us!!
  • I'm behind Chris Powell 100% and until people realise that we are in this with Powell for the long run will we start to think about promotion next season. CTID !
