[cite]Posted By: Richard J[/cite]On a night when Reidy disappointed us in reply to a fan on Twitter about his contract Jacko confirms
'got one more year left'
Good news if true and blows apart the 'pre contract' rumour from Brighton
Reid only disappointed me when he said his contract doesn't end until the end of the season. He can leave now as far as I'm concerned. We've had enough of players with that kind of attitude over the last few years and look where it's got us.
"@KReidy11: @eyt123 contracts up end of season pal, not happy at all. Tell about it every team must be happy to see my name not in starting 11" what is wrong about this? Obviosuly fustrated that after rejecting championship clubs to come and play for charlton that he sometimes isn't even on the bench..
[cite]Posted By: cafc999[/cite]Spoke to Jacko on saturday regarding Brighton - He laughed and said that he had heard that to but does not know it had come from!
He said that he is very happy here and that Brighton would mean a lot of travelling again - one of the main reasons why he left Notts County!

So he didn't deny it then...
He did a few weeks ago when someone else asked him. They said are you signing for Brighton and he just said no.
But did he mean it?
:-)
Maybe, maybe not. And of course he can still change his mind.
Previously I had believed he was only on a one year contract and that BHAFC had signed a precontract with him . That was the rumour posted on their North Stand chat room . This seemed plausable because Jacko played with both Poyet and Taricco at Spurs .
Beacause he is a leftie he will always offer something different to our other cm's or provide a natural balance at lm to allow us to play a winger on the other side .
[cite]Posted By: Valiantphil[/cite]Guys, some of you are missing a very important point about Jacko.
Yes he has a year left - after which, he can walk away for free !
If BHAFC offer £500k for him NOW - we would probably take it. Remember Frazer Richardson ?
We are in L1 for another year and players like Jacko are our best chance of getting out.
Although the amounts might differ that applies to any player in this league, indeed any league outside the top one. I think what would upset a lot of fans is when players walk without there being any compensation/fee. Realistically in our situation you can't really stop anyone but you can get people under contract so that you can get a fee for the talented ones.
If we can get 20+ goals from midfield (Jacko, Waggy etc etc) and 40+ from up front (BWP and Benno) then we will leave this piss poor dross league behind once and for all.
We need a good start next season - no point in rushing Jacko back, and important we don't carry any has-been, dead-wood, passengers.

Next season we will add Scunthrope, Sheff Utd and Preston who all have a chance if they keep their
sides together.

No we wouldn't take it. Perhaps, it passed you by, but in the summer we were heading for Administration & now we have seriously wealthy owners ![/quote]
I like your optimism, and I hope you are right.
Just 2 questions from me though.........
Who are our owners ? and how do you know they are seriously wealthy ?
Assuming they are wealthy, we take it on trust that they will spend this money on our team., but if you're right I'll give Messi a ring.

The Football League know our "true" owners, but other than that, possibly only Slater & Jiminez know, (as they own less than 10% and are "secret", just like Leeds).
However, one of our directors, I'm confident, is on record, as saying that our "true" owners are seriously wealthy.
Now that doesn't mean they will spend all their wealth on CAFC, but I'd like to think they will spend a fair amount or why bother buying the club ?
They are going for evolution not revolution, so I'm not expecting them to be attempting to sign Premiership stars and even if they wanted to, it is unlikely players of that ilk would come to League 1.
But I'm still hoping for good signings & a top 2 finish next season :-)
No go for Jacko Posted on: Thu 07 Apr 2011 Tom Harvey reports
Chris Powell 'very much doubts' that Johnnie Jackson will play again for Charlton this season.
Left-sided Jackson has been sidelined since suffering an Achilles problem in the 1-0 loss at former club Notts County in February.
And although the 28-year-old is making good progress, Powell doesn't want to rush him back too soon.
"I very much doubt he'll play again this season," said Powell on Thursday. "It's an injury that you have to be really, really careful with. If you get it wrong, you can be out for a long time.
He's a player that we've missed, not only for his creativity and energy, but his goals from midfield. He gives us good balance and he's a key player for us.
"It's a shame, but that's football. In a perfect world, you'd have him fit, but we have to make sure he's right and ready for pre-season and next season."

sounds like CP is expecting him to be here next year.
Well he can't turn around and say 'We aren't risking him because he is one of our only sellable assets and if we play him and he opens up the injury we're screwed' can he?
Not sure why people kepp bringing up Richardson. We are in a totally different situation to the one we find ourselves in now. When we sold Frazer we were looking at admin and needed the money badly.

Jacko is only halfway through a 2 year contract, so he can't walk away in the summer.
He can only leave if the club let him go.
