Diawara wasn't awful but he wasn't worth what we paid and I think we still made a loss on him, only a few hundred grand which seemed inconsequential at the time but that is more than the value of any single one of our current squad.
And in respect of Reid, yes he was an excellent player for us BUT he was injury prone and that was well-known when we signed him, yet dowie still used that as an excuse when he was out.
But it wasn't JUST his signings. He didn't have a clue. I remember early in the season when trying to excuse our poor start he referred to the absence of Bryan Hughes through injury, who he said was going to be a key player for us this season when fit. Utterly baffling - clearly everybody else around the club had seen Hughes as little more than a squad player to make up the numbers but this moron viewed him as one of our best players.
It was his entire approach/personality - bad man-management / bad tactics/ bad team selection and the horrific impact he clearly had on the dressing room.
It's all been said before anyway, but I detest the man, and I pity Bury's squad / board and supporters if he gets near them. On the plus side, those of you who aren't stuck sitting at the Valley watching us get turned over every week can at least enjoy Soccer Saturday without having his hideous boat on your screen reminding you exactly how quickly we have fallen.

Agree with this. You had the problems with his brother at Fulham, the run around Newcastle. No professionalism at all. Joke manager.
The really worrying thing about this is that we could be a Bury the way we are going and he might harbour realistic expectations of returning to finish the job!

Yep there's another good point. Scored a spectacular own goal at the pre-season game at Welling, which we lost...

How could any professional organization hire Dowie if they knew his track record?
Any club that hires him gets what they deserve.
