[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Do people really think we've sold more this term at the same stage this term given the way the season has gone?
Depends on how much the price reduction acted as an incentive to people to renew earlier than they normally would
That would have been a factor but over 6k at this stage is still impressive and a lot more than some on here thought it would be.
the big factors now will be how we play till the end of the season and how impressive the summer purchases are IMHO but I'm also sure that there are some fans who who've not renewed yet but who will renew regardless.
I notice there is the mention of the word "paid". Does that mean that only people who have paid upfront have been counted or does the figure include those going through the zebra finance process?.
Also do we have to add 5 year tickets to get a complete total?.
Must admit i'm encouraged, there could have been a real fall out emerging for next season which could have had a devasting effect, fortunately it doesn't look like that will materialise.
The real challenge will be despite a 3rd season in League One to try and retain our run of higher attendances than those of our two South London rivals.

includes the proper Charlton ie the VIPs and the instalment payers
Lots of figures were bandied around in the PL about season-ticket holders that included comps. I don't think comps are relevant to this debate, so in recent years we've stripped them out.
This figure doesn't include any hospitality packages, because they haven't been sold yet. It does include VIP 5-years, because they were in the same numbers last year. It does include Zebra Finance. The comparable figure at August 7th this season was 8,769 - so we need to get another 2,516 to match it. Who knows? But I'm hopeful.
I'd accept that some people who renewed later last year will have moved into this phase because of the price reduction - equally there have been plenty of people saying they would wait and see what happened in the summer.
Fact is, it could have been a disaster and it isn't. Joking aside, the credit for that goes to the people who have stumped up once again.
Yes, pleasantly suprised here too - If the team can pick up a bit - could be a healthy final total with those who require a bit more persuasion becoming more optimistic. Board should definitely extend the offer till the end of the season at least - it is very hard to sell something when you are losing every game which is what has happened since the prices were announced.

When are the club likely to announce the next phase Airman ?
Understand fully the need to 'reward' those who hit the deadline, but i really do think it will be in everyone's interest if it was extended for a period, particularly if the team get favourable results before the end of the season.
Ultimately, those of us who did hit the first deadline probably care more about getting as many bums on seats as possible as opposed to realising a saving.
6,253 is pretty amazing given the run of results. Now the ground holds 27,111 - take off the away end (3,000) - that means a current ST holding of around 26% - be interested how that compares with other League One grounds - but imagine, as a percentage, its pretty high.
great response in the circumstances when most peoplare commiting on basis of having not won for 11 games. For me I would be delighted if they extended the offer
Charlton chairman Michael Slater has thanked fans for an exceptional show of support as the club announced on Tuesday that initial season-ticket sales are running ahead of last year.
Taking into account overnight arrivals, the commercial centre has received 6,253 paid applications compared to 6,065 on the same date last year.
The figures do not include season tickets sold as part of hospitality packages or any complimentary tickets, and they mean the club is on course to equal or surpass the 2010/11 final paid total of 9,190, which also includes season tickets bought after the start of the campaign.
Slater said: "The dedication and patience shown by the supporters is amazing and the board is determined to repay the fans' loyalty by building the necessary foundations to enable Chris Powell and his coaching staff to achieve long-term success. I'm very excited about next season."
In accordance with the terms of the original offer, the prices announced by the board on February 18th have now been withdrawn. Season tickets will be off sale for the next week to allow staff to process the backlog of application forms.
They will be available again from 9am next Tuesday, April 12th, when adult, over 60 and U21 prices will rise by either £25 or £15, depending on the level by which they were discounted from the 2010/11 rates. All U18 prices remain unchanged.
However, in order to encourage more renewals over the next three months, the club has decided to hold all current season-ticket holders seats until June 30th, with swap week commencing on Saturday, July 2nd. This also means that fans will continue to be able to renew online once seats go back on sale.

optimistically, i think between 5,500 - 6,500
Once again, me and Mart 77 are the only two people worth listening to on here FACT :-)
Agree on Mart77 but the other bloke was a bit vague IMHO : - )
Lol, you should ban Henry for questioning you AFKA! ;0)
Really heartened to see that I was close to the figure and I'm sure this will convince the owners that with the right team, we can get very respectable crowds regardless of what league we are in. I now think that with the right amount of player movement in the summer, the Valley will be rocking come August and the past few years will be consigned to history.
P.S. I really hope that other fans have been doing, what I've been doing and talking to fans around them and making sure that we get as many fans as possible to renew, as it might just take a nudge to get a waivering fan to renew. Regardless of fans opinions of those who are thinking of walking away, I think it's hugely important to support the Club now, more than ever, and to get as many bums on seats as possible.
I cant believe how many have renewed already. think everyone deserves a big well done especially for what we have endured (suffered) this year. now we have shown our intent, the board now need to show they mean business!!
I'm glad the seats are held until the end of June.
I won't be renewing until end of May for a few reasons (stag do's, weddings, holidays, change of job) and the £50 was never an incentive for me to renew early anyway.
Good work by the club and all those who have stumped up already.
Impressive total all things considered. Would be interested to know, out of our total number of season tickets over the past few seasons, how many percentage-wise are bought after the season starts, i.e. when you buy a month in and get 20 games instead of the full 23. Suspect that it's usually a fairly negligable amount, but I reckon there could be a bit of a surge in the summer if, as hoped, we spend some money, and a larger than usual take-up of STs once the season has started if we make a decent start.

Someone is watching twitter....unbelievable number!

Is the correct answer.

I don't think anyone questions the great numbers we have at home, it's the joke away followings we get that are brought into question

More to follow on the OS regarding this.
