It seemed blindingly obvious to me that he will be off to Brighton next year:
- mentioned he used to play with Poyet, what a good style they play and how they stuffed us at The Valley
- talked about them strengthening and bringing in four or five new players for next season
- was quite on edge when asked about Charlton/ Powell - actually made some strange comment about the manager not mattering
- also commented on the impatience and negativity of the Charlton fans with Parky
I think that's a little harsh Weegie - all of his comments came off the back of direct questions.
I think all of the Brighton comments are fair and spot on to be honest, and when asked about if it was more difficult performing for a club legend he said the right thing, "once the team is picked it's up to the players to perform so it doesnt really matter".
And the impatience and negativity is for all there to see - it would be silly and naive to pretend it didnt/doesnt exist.
lets not kid ourselves that Millwall couldn't afford him !, he's a third division player with a year left on his contract - we haven't been taken over by Arabs (well maybe we have !)
WSS - Only wish I had your faith that there is an abundance of left-sided, goalscoring midfielders out there!! I'd be very sad to see him go - our form went to pieces after he went off v Notts County. We'd probably have won that if he'd still been on to take the penalty, but anyway, water under the bridge now.
From our point of view Jacko is in a bit of a no win last night .
On a London / South East programme he cannot basically diss one of the other regional clubs and will always be encouraged to talk about personal connections such as ' I played with Poyet at Spurs '. Personally I never read anything untoward about those comments . He also said that Powell had lifted the club , you could tell that it was at the fag end of the programme and they were running out of time .
I was more surprised having been a Notts County player that he wasn't asked about the Meadow Lane perspective regarding Martin Allen .
I do agree with Weegie that there are not many good left footed midfielders around and it is essential that we keep him . We have now established he is under contract for another season so the pre contract rumour with Brighton was wrong although I accept if a suitable bid came in he would be off .
Of course he will be sorely missed if he leaves, people like Kyel Reid are hardly going to be a step up are they? Or maybe those who believe there is a lot better out there are actually serious when they mention future targets of Andy Reid, Kevin Phillips and Lee Bowyer?
I just watched it Weegie and you're definitely harsh.
He said the fans were making it known that we weren't doing the business on the pitch so with Powell coming in it gave the club a lift and a bit more patience.
Have to admit the fat, ginger Palace t*sser makes wonderful viewing. You can just feel all the other Palace fans watching that dying with cringe. I'm sure they'll hunt him down at the next home game, it'll be like a scene out of The Lord of the Flies.
EGA Ill wait until our one is done and dusted (if not already) before I start chuckling at Nigel Hucknall.....reckon our one could be proper car crash telly!
Secondly, why would he overly praise or slag off any team anyway? Camden boy, I presume a yid or gooner, so he doesn't care one jot good or bad about us, Palace or anyone else.

this i cant help but feel he mnight be in blue next year
Wasnt exactly going to come out and slag them off was he?!
I don't think they could afford him to be honest, we're not in a position where we have to sell either.

Felt quite fed up by the end of it.

I really thought he came over very well.
That being said, if he does go he goes with my best wishes as although his goals have been valuable I think there is better out there.
that said, I think he'll be here next year.

Personally I would make him captain next season .

I'd call it paranoid rather than harsh ;-)
In my opinion making semedo captain would be a massive boost, there is no way he would let any of the players not work hard.
I thought the piece on Roberts the Daggers keeped was good!!
Semedo/Stewart if he's with us next season?
or Simon Francis.

Thirdly, what a wally that palace fan was.
