Of course, there's been a lot of upheaval in the past few weeks at Board level and with the management team.
My take is that while everyone is bedding in, they are trying to get the bedrock foundations right.
No point just throwing money at the team, without doing the homework first.
what's the rush? Charlton is for life not for 5 months!
Agree with the posts saying we are bedding in, applying a new sensible approach. I like the fact Powell is a man of his word and is giving the majority of the squad a new start and an opportunity to shine.
I'm quite hopeful that CP with AD and BWP a basically sound team with occasional flashes of class will firm up into something quite special over the next month..
added pace up front which can only be good and hopefully added a bit of football at left back but haven't addressed the playmaking department which was crucial in my opinion so expecting pretty much more of the same tonight. hope i'm wrong.
Very few L1 teams seemed to have signed players - even Southampton and Brighton who appear to have money didn't seem to have that much transfer activity, although the Saints did keep hold of Oxlade-Chamberlain. The suggestion with the January window is that it causes panic buying as teams shore up attacks/defences and consequently it becomes a sellers market.
The loan window opens in a week and I'd expect one or two players to arrive who are surplus to requirements elsewhere.
can we loan a player right through to the end of the play offs if necessary - not sure but i thought somebody said you can only loan for 90 days or something?
Racon has never shown signs of being a playmaker. Almost always kept his passing short and tidy. This is his 4th season, he's played under several managers, if he had great vision he'd have shown it by now. If a player has it, with enough games he'll eventually show it, regardless of the tactics.
What might help is we now have more pace up front. We might see an occasional through ball from Racon but he's not going to turn into something he's not.

Defined as 'Emergency' loans, available from 8th February until late March deadline day:
Minimum 28 days.
Maximum 93 days.
Once the maximum 93 days are expired, that loan cannot be extended.
If a club wishes to sign a player on loan to be available for any possible playoff final, then they need to work backwards 93 days from that date.

ok thanks - very dissapointing then because we are going to have to grind out a lot of wins between now and the end of the season unless we bring a couple of play makers in around mid to late feb.
93 days is in effect 3 months.
The Playoff Final is 29th May,
So to sign a player to be eligible to play on 29th May, counting back the 93 days, he can't be signed before say 26/27 February.
The other option is a rest of season loan (forget what the proper name is), which has to be signed by 31 January.
Bessone is an example of that type of loan.
Looking at the transfer market a lot of players from Prem teams have gone out already on season long loans. That presumably leaves a much shallower pool to go for - short-term loans, players coming back from injury and the like.

hasn't worked for the first half of the season, not sure why it will now?
same player - 3rd or 4th manager
To be honest, I agree with you, I don't think Racon is incisive as he needs to be in that role but I believe he does have it in him.
