[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]B, no he only said he been asked at Yeovil.
Yes but i said i would leave it for a while as he was doing this one and I have a City Addicks coming up. So mine will be a long way off so dont mind me.
Saga Lout , nice to meet you too , i feel embarassed i didn't buy you as pint! maybe next time , i was so excited about getting my programmes signed , cracking evening i really want Chris to succeed , i thought it was hilarious that he arrived 10 mins late , and still got a big build up , round of applause and gave a big Kinsella 'Heave Ho'
If Chris gets the players showing the efffort and commitment that he's shown as a player we will be sorted , seems different at the moment , yes there are still weaknesses in the the team ( i'm sure every team has them) but there is more belief , and will to do better and for players to improve.
Thankyou to the people that organised this , and thanks to Chris , Michael and Steve , for giving up their time.Would strongly urge people to tell other people about the £5.00 ticket offer for the Exeter game , so we can get the valley rocking again.
[quote][cite]Posted By: Saga Lout[/cite]Room full of diplomats (on stage and off), but given our recent results and the number of people there, no surprise. It was good to shake Mr Powell's hand during the interval.
It was also good to meet Mendonca in Asdas. I am just slightly miffed that the highlight for Fanny was not seeing me again.[/quote]
Eat your heart out!
Good to meet Fanny in the flesh, as well as Sadamson and Cheltenham Addick and reaquainting with Ben, Andy Lopata et al.
He is back training with WHU. Powell said West Ham are thinking of keeping him there because of 25 player squad rule about homegrown players, which is unfair on him really as he's not going to get a game is he!
The most encouraging thing for me was the demenaour of both SCP and MS - very confident in what their doing but at the same time humility. MS admitting he knows nothing about running a footabll club in my eyes is a good thing as he will have an open mind and is backed by loads of experience in PV RM and SK. SCP said he wanted to set each player of a target of improving their game every day.
One thing he said he said he had siad to Robbie that now he has 3 clean sheets he ought to be looking to go on a club record but didnt know what it was. Had a bit of shock when told of sasha run pre play offs but I missed how many games that was. Anybody know? And for the trickier question what is the second best which may be worth passing onto SCP as first target!
Sasha holds a league record of 11 straight clean sheets in the league. Those were the last 10 in the championship and the first game the following season in the prem I believe
Randy - i think 11 is cheating a bit as it excludes the play offs in the middle so 10 sounds fairer. And wasn't our second game in a 0 0 draw at arsenal or is my memory fading
[cite]Posted By: redman[/cite]Plaayer - are you saying 4 is second best ever
Randy - i think 11 is cheating a bit as it excludes the play offs in the middle so 10 sounds fairer. And wasn't our second game in a 0 0 draw at arsenal or is my memory fading
Charlton 5 Southampton 0
was just before the 0-0 at Arsenal
Ok, so maybe it's 9 in the champ and then 2 in the prem, didn't we win the first leg of the play-off 1-0, so that would be 10 games in all comps without conceding
I would add that the room was full of love. Never seen so many happy Charlton fans for years.
NB I told Slater after, that the implied criticism of Varney was very odd & probably only 1 person's view, as i'd never heard anyone else critical of Varney.
I thought Slater sounded and appeared somewhat like Tony Blair or David Cameron and I mean that as a positive, ie very well spoken & intelligent. He also had a very good sense of humour. I was very impressed.
Powelly - God love him, the bloke is a legend and I really mean that as opposed to other players that have been given that tag & he does have an "aura", the room lit up when he entered and stayed lit the whole night. I do think he has the ability to inspire, let's hope so.

Without a doubt, he does have an "aura". I don't know anybody that dislikes him.

I bet Parky is not to keen on him![/quote]
I suspect that Parkies venom is reserved for Slater and Jimminez. parkie and CP have shared texts since CP took charge and it sounded like they were positive as oppossed to "You bastard thats my job".

Surely there must be someone who doesn't like him!

[cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]was varney really involved with picking our joke manager incumbents since curbs left or was it just murray and his crazy visions
Varney left in 2008 and wasn't chief exec or on the board when Parky was appointed (for the record, I wouldn't blame Waggott for that either) or for the whole season when we went down to League One. He was behind the Pardew appointment, but I think most people were. You'd have to ask him about Dowie.
No complaints about hostile questions, but blaming Varney for the club's football decline is a bit like blaming Darren Bent for the fact we were relegated.

I here from a work colleague he’s back training with the hammers.
Jabba is obviously having second thoughts on Wayne.
