I was told by an ex-league manager at the weekend that the lack of character around Parky was his downfall.[/quote]
And also the ability to spot when things are going wrong , and what to do to turn them around , sounds like the sidekicks ( not meant to be derogotary) are going to be just as crucial , no i in team , as they say.
er wtf. Just looked at Breacker's Wiki page and saw this.
On July 28, 2009, Tim Breacker was named assistant manager to Phil Parkinson at Charlton Athletic. He was sacked, along with Parkinson, on 4 January 2011. In January 2011, media speculation linked Breacker with a blackmail plot involving the possesion of illicit images and video footage of a holiday orgy in Las Vegas with three swedish waitresses. The knowledge of this scandal is believed to have contributed to his and Phil Parkinsons recent sacking from Charlton Athletic. Breacker was unable to comment when questioned but is not expected to deny the allegations.
Since leaving Charlton, Tim has been linked to the Spurs job as his former manager Harry Redknapps job becomes increasingly precarious. It is expected his strong ties with the Jewish community will see him obtain his first foray into management.
Hope Powell??? May as well get all the Powell's in as we Colin and now Chris! Even Co-lin Powell the ex-US Vice president could do a job!! But in all seriousness his assistant should have experience, Wilkins, Venables?

When I said earlier in the thread that I think Chris needs an older head around and preferably one who knows the Club I was actually thinking of someone like Meryvn Day. Thoughts anyone.
I don't care who Mr Powell wants to have as his backroom team, but for me, it's his choice. Hopefully they will be chosen to complement him, ie to cover for his weaknesses, whatever they may be. I won't be disappointed if his staff happen to be old or young, ex-Addicks or not. It's the manager's choice.

I would not be surprised to see Peacock stay on in some capacity, even if only for a while. Another 'Charlton Man' but one with experience and also one who already knows a bit more about the current squad than Chrissy which could be handy in the transfer window re: what we need.
I remember Mark Robson being known for coaching teams to play good football, so I like the sound of that. I have a worry about Deano because it seemed to me that he threw a wobbly when he didn't automatically get his place back after injury, we don't need any hotheads in the management team. Hopefully we will know today.
I'm not sure Deano is enough of a thinker to be No2, and it'd be a shame to dump Roberts from GK coach so soon. Brownie would be good but don't think it would damage Brighton too much as he's not involved in 1st team coaching. I hope DM is retained as coach, but didn't KP reject long term involvement?
Well, this is by and large down to who Chris feels is right for him and the club. We all (mostly) screamed for him to get the job so let's start right now and show our faith in his decisions, as this one could be vital to determine how successful he's to be as a manager. I'm sure he know who and what he wants. Personally not too sure about forming an old boys club with coaches being picked purely because of links with us in the past though. Saying that, i would like to see stevie Brown back at some point. Yes, he's slagged us off on the radio during commentary but it was all constructive critisism and i for one agreed with what he was saying on the whole.
I dont necessarily think an experienced number two is needed, where it could cause problems (the experienced man pressing his ideas too strongly onto chrissy)....
At bournemouth Howe and his number two are both very young, so perhaps having two inexperienced guys is not such a bad thing?
I like the idea of steve brown, however Im sure chris has built up a wealth of contacts over the years so it could be anyone! :)

Seconded. Chris has got enough of a network to form the team he thinks is right for the job, ex-CAFC or otherwise.

Curbs- DoF
Powell - Manager
Steve Brown - First Team Coach
Deano - Goal Keeper Coach
Mendonca - Striker Coach
2 nice guys together wouldn't work apart from the fact wilkins has relegated most clubs he's been at.
Never liked the bloke as a player. Dull and one dimensional. Ring any bells!
Parkinson really wanted him though so i guess that's his look out.

Loving that!

Keith Peacock is your man.
Venables costs to much I'm told. Keegan doesn't like any think south of Newcastle.
DID SOMEONE SAY......
Matt holland coach?!?!? A name thrown into the hat. He could even player/coach... Maybe...
a calm head, cannot be flustered, was integral to our success as a top 10 English side ...
Keith Peacock, without doubt for me...
He also has respect of the team(after Spurs performance) and the fans, and the club as a whole...

Seriously, I like the idea of a strong CAFC background, I think where we are at the moment lends its hand to such.
If so.....just playing devils advocate here....would you have challenge Robbie for his place ?
Job done.
Conversing with god apparently.
