[cite]Posted By: superclive[/cite]...I have noticed that my phone now takes me to a mobile version of the site, this seems to be pretty good except for the fact that when hit the news link all I get is a don't swear at matches message...
Yeah, I get this too. I just switch to the desktop version on my phone if I want to read 'news' (or should that be 'olds'?)
As for the desktop site, like so many others I hardly go there unless linked by newsnow or something. I do find it annoying that loads of interviews and the like are only available on player and are therefore unavailable to proles like me who haven't got player. How long does it take to write up an interview?
One thing that is good though is that as it's used by 70 odd clubs, the bandwidth is very high, so it doesn't crash when loads of people go on it i.e. today when Sir Chris is announced as manager.
Literally having adverts shoved down my throat puts me right of.
I can get most of the information that i need from the site and i do still use it from time to time, but i definitely still miss the old site.
yeah so it was dated, but its an information i'm after. the site it doesn't need to be cutting edge, who needs flash players and java scripts?
For me it is only ever visited when I want confirmation of something. I used it Boxing Day for confirmation that the game was off, and I used it to read about the new owners, even thought the latter was on here. Other than that I haven't used it since it switched over.
It's weird really as the club has effectively forced fans into the CAFC Player. Most of the articles on the website are only viewable, or hearable if you subscribe. Despite my principle against paying for it I subscribed, as without it you are effectively excluded from most of the club's PR.
So I guess we can call the switch over a success. The club earn more money (in total) and we have fewer issues with bandwidth as we have more bandwitch available, and it is needed less as the site is so easy to live without.
[cite]Posted By: Zinedine Bagheri[/cite]The new mobile site is very, very poor. My phone redirects to it whether I like it or not. There was a blank section on news, a big section on 'Last match' and then a big section on 'Player Profiles'.
I don't know why anyone who would visit the website from their phones would want to know about the last match played or player profiles. Surely people would prefer instant access to news and ticket/travel info on a mobile site?
I take these comments back now that I see MW is still testing the mobile site, I didnt realise it wasn't finished/ready. Thanks.
It generates revenue and nobody likes change initially. We will get used to it, albeit we will probably use it less than the old site. If it helps keep the club financially healthy then so be it.
I almost never use it now. I'd looked at some of the sites the company runs and I knew what to expect. I think it's a pity we had to go down that road, but I understand it had to be done. Don't think I'll get used to it, as such. Like others have said I'll probably use Twitter etc. more.

Without naming names it could give an update, about the position, or mention the time of the press conference!
such as Charlton expect to make an announcement regarding the manager's position at xxxx.
