[cite]Posted By: nolly[/cite]this lot seem to be aiming big doubt odriscoll is on the radar
which is a shame as doncaster play some cracking football
The best passing team I have seen in our leagues over the past few seasons. Cracking team. He would be an excellent manager for you lot. Can't see him going much further with Doncaster, may believe you have more potential long term.
[cite]Posted By: cafc_joe[/cite]How much would Jackett cost?
More than you could afford!
& seeing as you lot dismissed us last season as being just a bunch of bullies, who play hard fast physical football with no skilled players, find it a bit strange that any Charlton would want Kenny.
No Wise for me - never be a Charlton type. Wilkins - bloke's ok, but so was Parky. Jackett - success with Spanners, let 'em keep him. Curbs - much loved but not a tactician and tendency to go after players we struggled against (Otto, Royce etc...). We couldn't afford most of the other ones mentioned until now . It seems we're looking for a manager with a proven record. O'Driscoll seems to fit our criteria although it'll probably cost us some to get him out of Doncaster. He's my choice number one. I don't see many approving my choice number two : Paolo di Canio. I know he'd like to come back and be involved in England. Much wealthier than Poyet, he would probably also accept decent wages and come to a club he's familiar with. Dunno about his badges/credentials, but I know his arrival (if possible) would light up the Valley. Worth the risk I tell ya !!
Dont think anyone has mentioned Martin O'Neill, he might relish the challenge of turning this club into a prem club. Lower league with a few quid more than most (hopefully) been out of work a while, I think he could be up for this job.
I won't mind if its wilkins and wise, or morecambe and wise,or even the three wise men, long as they get us out of this hell hole league, and entertain us with some decent football along the way !
I'd love Hughton simply because a mate at work is a geordie and a massive Newcastle United fan. And after they've been lumped with Pardew, to nick their beloved old manager would take the biscuit.
I am mean.

Given the non-football related stuff we have posted about Wise and Hoddle, and in the interests of fairness, I think we should start a lenghty Charlton Life debate about Di Canio's strong facist affiliations if he gets any closer in the betting!

As already been posted I doubt that we will see any gamble in choice of manager. The way to get out of this s
Division is to get an experienced and quality coach who can attract players and play football. Di Canio might be a good number two though !
Would love O'Driscoll but he seems to be a hard man to get away from Doncaster, turned down Burnley when they had a fair chance of premiership survival, although he may be looking to go to a club with financial stability and some resoruces to work with, so that may work in our favour. Not a hope would it be Warnock, QPR is his last crack at getting to the premiership which he has admitted himself.
For what its worth I'd quite like the Wise Clarke combo, but I think it would cost too much. Plus, does Wise really want to put himself back in the hot seat? All our guessing and surmising is a load of codswallop really. Hands up anyone who thought Lennie would last more than 6 weeks? I remember thinking, "Curbs and Gritt...what are they thinking of!" Then again, I was hopeful when Mullery got appointed and positively estatic with Pardew. It's all in the hands of the gods. By the way, is it fair to say that Dailly got Parky sacked with his awful mistake?
Can we have an internet voting system to choose players and do away with a manager once and for all, the salary can be split amongst us all and we all get a few minutes in the dug out?

I think O'Neill will end up at Chelsea actually, got a funny feeling. Failing that, Liverpool but I think he's better than that. Dreaming if you think he'd come here!!
People are considering O'Neill but dismiss Curbs?! We've got to be more on Curbs' radar surely!
Can't be Wise, he'd be here already unless he's the assistant. Howe is good but maybe it's too early for him. Would Hughton be good with us, not sure. He had a cracking squad last year for the Champ - Carroll, Nolan, Taylor, Barton, etc. He HAD to win the league, hard not to. They only sold the premadonnas when they went down which was a boost if anything.

True Hughton did have a very good squad but we have seen other sides come down with very good squads and struggle in the Champ. He has always been well respected for his coaching but seems to be quite good at the management side as well. He dealt with the "problem" of Joey Barton quite well and got him back into some fine form, he dealt with the idiot Geordie fans and actually turned them round to liking him, he managed to steer the club to promotion despite some bust ups within the squad (Carroll and Taylor?) and with a record Championship points total and was sacked with the club looking relatively comfortable in the Premiership.
It does look like he could be a very good manager but the only concern is that it has only been for a year or so, but as others have pointed out a risk has to be taken on someone. I'd be surprised if he did end up here, I'm sure he has other offers waiting at a higher level.

Evening, Uncle ..... Happy New Year to you!
If it's results we want ..... for example, promotion nailed on, MO'N could be the man.
If it's pretty passing football and triangles, a lot of people could be disappointed.

Or is he dead?
Who told you???
someone at the club cant say sounds solid but you never know?
Still on gardening leave.
Funny that, considering I think I'm right in saying, that you have been banging on for days that Poyet was the man.
what I thought as well
he did say on another post Gus had turned us down to stay and finish what he has started at brighton
he was bang on about Jimenez and told me the day after the clubs announcement that we had accepted an offer so i reckon his info to be trustworthy
