[cite]Posted By: Vincenzo[/cite]Haven't been keen on Wise coming, mostly because he's a nasty bit of work, but I do appreciate it's not a popularity contest and his record as manager is good. Wouldn't be happy if he was Director of Football, where his record is appalling.
Wilkins coming would be a positive. He's thoroughly decent, players love him and he looks like Uncle Fester. Looks what's happened to Chelsea since he left.
[cite]Posted By: masicat[/cite]As previous, I do have some inside news, and know that 1st choice is a Championship Manager. Tried and tested and currently doing well.
I've always liked Warnock which I know puts me in a minority but really cannot see any scenario where he would walk out on QPR at this time. How about Hodgson - he might be available soon :)
Wouldnt have any complaints with Wilkins being involved, since he left Chelsea they have fallen apart - maybe an indication that he did a lot of good work there !
[cite]Posted By: colthe3rd[/cite]Hang on I mentioned O'Driscoll the other day and the idea got shot down completely, now he is seen as a good likely option by everyone on here
Whatever will be will be but if you had asked me to put together a list of 3 people that you wouldn't want to be your manager, he'd be in it. Talks a good game but his relegated enough mid sized london clubs already - thats what he specialises in from what i can see.
i still can't see Varney advising Slater that Wise would be a good idea to be manager at Charlton. Would he really be an improvement on Parkinson.... possibly but not a lot. Plus Slater making a comment in his takeover interview must have come out because of the speculation the fans were talking about. He must have been looking to ease our minds otherwise he wouldn't have bothered saying it. But thats not to say he hasn't changed his mind.
Would like Billy Davies, but can't see that either.
We will have to wait and see. This speculation is kinda fun though.

Who shot O'Driscoll down?
That would be very strange, as he's done a great job at Doncaster
Not the idea of wanting O'Driscoll, but the fact we wouldn't get him. I mentioned it before, a couple of comments saying it would never happen and it was never brought up again. So now I officially give up suggesting any names.
Championship doing well . If ( and it is a really big word here ) this is an accurate description then I think it might be Jackett and I'm surprised his name has only been mentioned in passing so far.
Last year he made a point of saying Charlton was ' a big club' and is already located in the area. He will know that despite the Spanners current position in terms of potential we would be a much better bet .
If they were to get promoted to the Prem then police restrictions would mean that their capacity would only be around 16/18 000 for most games , in contrast we would sell out 10 000 more than that.

Ah OK. I think it's unlikely that we'd get him, but if there's some money available, we're a more attractive proposition than Sheffield Utd so it might be possible.
I'm not getting too excited, a manager will be appointed someday, whoever it is. Hopefully not Wise.

O'Driscoll is my first choice if Curbs is an unrealistic one.
My theory is this: There is no chance of Dennis Wise becoming the next Charlton manager on a permanent/long term basis. He has been watching us since last season, which I would guess is on behalf of the new owners. He has clearly reported back to them over this time and they also witnessed how poor we were against Swindon and they decided to sack Parky.
I would suggest he is in charge of identifying a new manager for us and brokering that deal. This is why he may have been seen at The Valley this week with Wilkins and I bet that isn't the only person he'll be introducing to Slater and Jimenez over the coming week(s).
If it was Kenny Jackett it would be funny but would have big similarities with us taking Dowie (other than the fact one seems to be a good manager and the other an incoherent, child scaring oath) from Palace and that didn't end up too well to say the least.
Seeing as Palace are without a manager, I wonder if Jordan has considered copying RM's coup when he snapped up Dowie days after he left the Eagles. Parky for next Palace boss!

No need. Point already made.

As I say, pure guesswork.
which is a shame as doncaster play some cracking football
Depends on the brand and the quality.
