[cite]Posted By: Bexley Dan[/cite]There is absolutely no evidence to back up his belief that disabled people are disabled because of things they have done in a previous life. It's very insulting to disabled people. Live and let live i say but I don't know how his beliefs became public and maybe he was the victim of the press but if you are in a public position that's the way it is and if he was found to have been a member of the BNP for instance, would he not also have been pulled up on it?
There's no evidence that good people go to heaven when they die, nor that God spoke to Blair and told him to invade Iraq.
I don't think any of the religions that believe in reincarnation advocate any actions/response or punishment for people with disabilities. That's one (of many) differences to your BNP example.
But it's really not a situation I want to deal with at the club, and would make many fans uncomfortable (at best)
He saved Swindon from relegation and took them to the Prem where they'd never been before or since. He revived Chelsea and started their rise to where they are now. He turned Spurs around then took the England job. We qualified and went out to Argentina on pens and lost his job for non-football reasons (see above). He saved Soton from relegation and all his teams have played attractive, passing football.
I can't believe some people think we wouldn't be extremely fortunate to have someone of his calibre at the club, who could attract decent players thanks to his global good reputation and have us playing good football.
I'm not apologising for him, I don't share his views in the slightest, but I'd like to see his brand of football at the Valley. He does a lot more work and fund raising for the disabled that I and most of us do, so while I might think he's a bit of a nutbar, I don't expect to hear his views on wider matters again. I'd welcome him with open arms.
Just had a look and it seems his academy is still going well. They linked up with a Spanish lower league club who were about to go bankrupt, so now the players are getting games in the Spanish fourth tier.
So Hoddle’s will continue on his mission abroad? “The first five games with Jerez were been like a pre-season for us. We are doing OK.
“The main thing is the way we play. They have a Spanish coach and assistant. We have Rix, Spackman and Beasant who rotate and go on the bench for two games at a time. I oversee it all in the stand. It’s a great experiment.
“I think we’ve hit on something. I can see how this blueprint helps a club. It’s thrown up a few positives and I bet people are looking at it and thinking this could work.

No he went from Chelsea to England.
Not sure about turning Spurs round either. All I remember him turning round at Spurs was a 3-0 lead at half time against Man Utd to a 3-5 defeat!
Still I do believe he is a quality coach but not a manager for reasons I stated above.
They're going for promotion, Hoddle provides them with a squad for free. Can't see him giving this up. He's had 26 job offers in 3 years.
Hoddle could probably find easier ways to make a living. He has had 26 job offers in the last three years, but is committed to the project he dreamed up as a boss in the 1990s charges with the “horrible” task of telling teenagers they were not going to be kept on
I wouldn’t have him just for what he said about us back in the day (when he was Swindon manager) - this seems to have been forgotten.
But onto of that, as has already been stated, I just don’t think he’d be able to handle the poor quality of football down here, he’d get frustrated and it’d all fall apart. Just looking at the managers who got teams promoted last year they all had experience at managing lower level football – Hoddle’s been an international manager ffs !

He does not believe that all disabled people are disabled because they are paying for previous wrongdoings and he never said that in the interview. That's how it was reported and is the simplistic abridged version so yes he was in effect mis-qouted.
He believes, and said, that we all have to pay for our wrong doings in previous lives. ONE of the ways we can do this is to choose to have a disability. It's the old suffering for penance routine, the same as going to hell. There are numerous other hardships we could choose, such as abject poverty, wars etc etc, to suffer in order to pay our penance other than disability.
He readily agrees that disabilities are also a natural occurance.
To me there is a huge difference in what people think he believes because all they know is the bit they heard in the media and what he actually believes.
Over the last few months I've read posts about how Luke Varney wouldn't cut it if we brought him back, how we wouldn't want Curbishley back as it would be 'going back in time', and now Glenn Hoddle isn't good enough for us because of a media mess-up over ten years ago. Very few of the people to cite the disabled thing have offered any insight into what he said and why (I echo points made earlier, about how he was talking in general about a belief held by a billion people on this planet), and the 'out of the game' thing is meaningless, cliched drivel.
My up-sum - you lot are deluded. You don't want Hoddle? Here's a newsflash for you - Hoddle, Poyet, Varney, Curbishley... they don't want us. The sooner many of you realise this, the sooner you might start acting appropriately at third division football matches.
just thought i'd clarify that i have never once said i wouldn't want Glen Hoddle as manager because of what he may or may not believe - loikewise for any other manager - my point was stating quite the opposite in fact in a vein of live and let live - all i care about is what they do for our club.
Now just got text from mate (who told me bout Jimenez's involvement in takeover and also thay Poyet was first target) saying Poyet won't do the dirty on Brighton and Jimenez and Hoddle met in a Hotel at Heathrow last night.
I think i'm gonna turn my phone and internet off until this is all over. Starting to do my head in now.

The disabled people I work with are much more concerned about their access to work being taken away from them by the government then whether the manager of the team they support believes in reincarnation.
