Next Manager?

  • I've a feeling it's gonna be Laws, a sick, sick feeling.
  • Please not Peter Taylor. There are some crazy suggestions on that list.

Would not be adverse to Paul Jewell if we are not going to get a manager who already has a job ie: Howe, Scott at Brentford or Tisdale.
  • please please not Wise, would be a terrible appointment. i live in exeter and know how good Tisdale is - tactically he's a million miles better than parkinson. otherwise i think Southgate would be good, the knowledge and observation he gives in his media work suggest to me he would be very capable. Hughton would be good too.
  • Ones I would consider:

Sean O'Driscoll - would cost a fair whack
Mark Bowen - can we prise him away from Fulham/Mark Hughes?
    Steve Brown/Chris Powell - for love/sentimental reasons
Gordon Strachan - if he could regain his mojo (absent at Boro)
    Martin O'Neill - obviously
PaddyP17 - seems to represent the fans!
  • Who makes the decision? Is it just down to the chairman, or do all board members get an equal vote, or is there some proportionate voting system in place. Or do they sit in a room until there is full consensus and white smoke billows from the chimney?
  • Andy Scott
    Favorite on budget terms

    Hughton
Possibility, but feels his beyond Div 1

    Curbishley
Obvious choice, possible with Peter Varney close connection But still a long shot?

The appointment of the type of manager the new owners decide will show us their ambitions for the club.
  • Steve Clarke
  • Eddie Howe or Poyet

    IMHO
  • Just had a frightening thought... Joe Kinnear...please tell me Jiminez wasnt part of the set up at Newcastle that appointed him!!
  • I'd like to see Curbs back but let's not forget that our slide towards relegation from the Premiership started under Curbs. If you recall his last game..we lost!

  • lets go get sousa no charlton "legends" please
  • Poyet would have to be mad to leave Brighton and has Sousa really proven himself?
  • We won't get Poyet. Brighton gave him a chance and he's building something there, they're moving to a new stadium and he's had some money to spend.

Board have said promotion is vital, can't see them giving it to Powell or similar either.

Seems O'Driscoll won't be going to Sheff Utd, so doubt we have a chance of getting him.

Hughton, Howe, Tisdale are the sort of managers I'd like. Probably going to be Wise though, not sure about him, doesn't have a bad record but could he take us that step further. His good record was with Poyet as his assistant...

and come to think of it no Sven-Göran Eriksson either!
  • I think we saw last night that our team is too soft.

We need a new manager who knows all about a tough regime that can be recreated to instil some discipline in our players

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you.....

    Karim Bagheri
  • Personally; tidsdale, howe, odriscall or mark yates (cheltenham town), have created great to watch attacking teams with genuine composure on ball on very very tight budgets.

of the out of work managers, Zola/Clarke/Sousa/Curbs

Dont think it will be wise (thankfully), who ever it is though I'll still give them 100% support from the stands, just hope we start playin some nicer attacking football, rather than either hoof ball or just sideways passing
  • Dunno why you'd want Wise. Swindon fans and Leeds fans are pretty unanimous in agreeing that it was Poyet (Wise's assistant at the time) who pulled the the strings and had the influence over their success. When Poyet left Wise couldn't handle the responsibility and Leeds went downhill.

He's proven himself to not be a very good manager, yes
  • sideways is fine if it leads to something and is not done simply because our players are too scared or lack the technique to try a harder pass

His last job was at Leicester. Sacked after 8 games / 1 win and branded clueless by the chairman.

  • Why Steve Clarke

    a - never been a manager
b - has never been a coach at this level.
  • Ray Wilkins and Steve Clarke as assistant for me
Plenty of chelsea players to choose from!
  • Steve Clarke or Mark Bowen would be my choice.
  • Darren Ferguson is my choice
My heart wants Chris Hughton (as I'm Irish) but he wouldn't take it.

Mark Robins would do a job too but doubt he'd leave Barnsley.
  • Gotta be Curbs with Chrissy Powell as no.2

This says more than I ever could about the ''Johnny Come lately's''.........
  • Steve Clarke I mentioned him after Pardew, reckon we are at about the right level for him to have a first crack at a manager job.

Houghton as well is a good shout.

If it's Wise hopefully he'll have someone like Clarke as his assistant

He's still at Leicester and has a mixed record, 8 wins, 6 defeats and 3 draws. You must be thinking of someone else
