  • Is this not just the meeting beween Parky and the board to discuss his requirements that has been known since the takeover?

Could be, I wonder what will come up in AOB?
  • I think this meeting was taking place regardless.

Parky as a scout? Have you seen Simon Francis?!
  • Last two home games against two poor teams that had the worst and 3rd worst away records in the league and we lost both. So please dont back him
  • Talksport reported that it was a meeting to discuss Parky's future, how they know this is beyond me, maybe its a mate of a mate and its nailed on, FACT!

Wasn't that supposed to have taken place on Monday or yesterday?
  • I like parky, think he has done quite a good job in the circumstances, but I'd be wooried if I was him after the results and more so the nature of our performances in the last 3 games.

Teams like that on them type of runs have never gone to the Southamptons, Wednesdays, Huddersfields, Leeds ect and raised there game to change there form..Have they...?

I think people need to take a better understanding to this league, it's a league where teams can be so different on paper, but due to it being league 1, form can be a 2 weekly thing. Just got to keep at it, not letting the bad results frustrate us.
I am sorry but I have to disagree Walsall have been beaten in the 2 games sine 3-0 at home to notts and 4-1 away to Peterborough so no lift acording to family and friends there we were just really bad

I would prefer a shake up now, but i will have nothing against Parky, he has done a sound job given the circumstances, and has left us in a great postion with no owners to build on that.
  • Talksport wouldn't be reporting it if there wasn't something to be announced off the back of it ....
  • Talksport probably got this from Kelvin McKenzie seeing as he was there yesterday sitting next to Slater and Jiminez.

Parky at the full time whistle yesterday looked a man defeated he stood there for a moment then walked to shake Wilson hand.

In Parky's defence we are 3 points from automatic promotion and he has assembled a squad without spending that much money (Benson aside) and the last time we got beat by 4 at home we went on an unbeaten run.

Wages spent on Francis, McCormack, Sodje, Abbott - look totally wasted. Doherty - the same.
  • The problem with ditching Parky is that none of us can remotely agree who might replace him. Obviously Poyet would be a godsend if they could manage it, but I think people like Damian Matthews, Dean Holdsworth & Steve Tilson are not even going to be on the radar of the current board and they're more likely to go for an unemployed "name" with at least one failure on his c.v. and no experience at this level.

Thank god they aren't asking us!!!

Maybe, but it hasn't taken place as of yet. i just reckon it's that and it's been interpreted in the wrong way.
  • Talksport constantly spout shite. Wouldn't take much notice

    Exactly.
  • Abbot scored last night, and doesn't get a regular start..
  • Abbotts goal was one of the best Charlton goals I have seen in a while, pity it came too late in the game.
  • Parky mentioned yesterday in the post match interview he had a meeting with the new Chairman today.
  • The takeover was announced on Friday and today is the first normal working day since then. In addition to this, a number of people who will be involved in the board meeting today will have been fairly busy looking after the various issues which need to be dealt with in the run up to a home game. I also suspect that in the immediate aftermath of a takeover there will be quite a few things that our new board needs to discuss - next season's season ticket sales strategy, whether to continue selling real ale, our transfer budget, our transfer targets. I would have been more surprised if there hadn't been a meeting today.

I'd also be very surprised if they discuss at today's meeting whether or not to sack our manager on the back of 2 defeats in 15 games and with the team well-placed in the promotion race - that would be madness.

It was mentioned on Skys match coverage last night.
  • If I was chairman I would want to be assured that he knows what is wrong and how to fix it. I think a few of us could answer this so expect he can too. His popst match comments worry me because it is more subtle than blaming it on a lack of effort. We are not a million miles away for me - just need much more movement up front but do not currently have the players who can provide this fit and in reserve.
  • I did wonder last night if Parky is feeling the pressure now, i may be wrong but i do not ever remember him pancing so much in that only going 3 at the back.
  • think going 3 at the back was a good call- just totally backfired almost immediately with Swindon getting third from a header that Forts may have prevented. We needed to pose more threat in the final third which is why Parky made the change- if your payers are not putting themselves about enough you have to increase the numbers and if you are chasing the game you have to take the risk. Benson does have his qualities but movement throughout the game is not one of them - I wouldn't mind playing against him - as you know a) he won't beat you for pace and b) he won't pull you around the pitch and out of position - in fact he will generally stay with you. Benson is at his best when sniffing around in the box but he needs somebody to do the parts he can't. he is not a sole target nman and playing him with martin is a waste of time as Martin is that kid in the playground who always tried to beat the whole team and ended up running into blind alleys.
  • [cite]Posted By: CafcAndy[/cite]Im really stuggling to find a manger that would play in front of our fans ect. You can feel the negativity and boredom of supporting Charlton from the pub before hand.

Any new manager will be welcomed and backed with open arms and mouths. The boredom and negativity is because we have only playted 45 minutes of decent football at home all season and that is off the back of 4 shit seasons. It's a no brainer for me - Parky and the whole of his backroom staff out - if they can't see what the main problem in that team is, they aint wort a wank and to suggest Parky would make a good scout is laughable.
  • When we win it's because the opposition were rubbish, when we lose it's because we're rubbish and Parky should go, when we draw, it's still probably Parky's fault.
  • when we lose it's never Parky's fault it's down to the players, when we win Parky is a genius, when we draw it's just bad luck.

    and your point is?
  • anyone know what time its at?

Don't think I've ever read words to that manner after a win
