Only caught the second half but picked out a few errors where we could have conceded because of his poor positioning. It's nice we can give inexperienced players a chance, and shows our youth set-up is producing competition for the first team. There were positives shown in terms of his movement and getting into good positions in possession, I hope he continues to develop! Even if he doesn't play on Saturday, it might keep Francis on his toes.
Hold on - he did well last night but to say Francis should remain in the wilderness now are a bit wide of the mark
With no Jackson and Francis on the pitch last night we had absolutely nothing to offer from set pieces. The delivery was predictable and seemed to hit the first man every time (Ambrose style).
As much as he gives the ball away Francis has a good touch - his passing can be superb and his delivery is often very good indeed. His passing lets him down occasionally but he doesn't hide and is always available
Jenkinson did well but he was caught out of position a few times and ducked/missed a couple of headers aswell as giving the ball away a fair few times. Don't get me wrong I really liked what I saw but he needs to play gradually rather than just get lumped in and left to flounder
The overreaction to his peformance on this thread is just so predictible. The anti-Francis brigade have all got their blinkers on and now can't see how Francis can get back in the team.
Jenkinson was steady last night and nothing else. That is no criticism, I expected no more of him. He tried to keep it simple and did ok.
If Francis had dropped off and played MacDonald onside he would have been slaughtered, if he had got out jumped like Jenkinson did for Alexander's header in the first half the same would have happened.
Jenkinson offered nothing offensively last night - not saying he should be bombing forward, but it became very clear to me last night that Francis delivers a good cross and we missed that.
Maybe having someone breathing down his neck will get Francis going again.
It's hard to know what to make of that debut, I presumed he was under orders not to go bombing forward and get caught out of position and therefore he added nothing offensively.

Jenkinson looked ok, but I can't recall him ever really being tested.
Hopefully we'll get to see a bit more of him and it could be interesting to see Solly and him battle it out in a year or two to be the starting RB.
