Varney in todays SLP "Have patience"

• PV is just making a holding statement because nothing can be revealed until the deal is sealed. I am reassured that it is on track for 24th December.

Not too much longer to wait.
• All seems a bit odd to me and rather pointless. Why say 'Be patient', we already knew we'd have to wait until Dec. 24th. Obviously we are going to try and sniff out rumours and speculate, it's all part of the usual takeover stuff in any business activity. Bit that bothered me, as with AFKA, was "There are liabilities to be resolved as well as issues to be resoved with the football league." Is that because technically we should have had 10 points deducted because we went into admin. in everything but name? Or have we got some Lurkios that haven't been paid? I would have prefered to have been kept waiting without this unwelcome add on. I was bored not worried, now I'm both!

The original post/attempt at humour was the tanning booth and having "Orange" as a sponsor.

Yep, but I'd imagine that PV is getting phone calls/e-mails asking who the buyers are, why the secrecy, will the deal go through, will Parky get the sack and then gets the same questions asked the next day...

Due dilligence is a complicated process and more so when you have to take into account the value of players and likelihood of promotion, the value of an FA cup run and a possible televised match against Spurs and a load of other stuff.

Personally I just want to know whether the pot holes will be filled in or not.
•
[cite]Posted By: Kap10[/cite]Nah, these silly criptic messages of people trying to big up what little they know are getting on my tits so I'll wait till 24th and the three wise men (Dennis, his Dad and Brother -fact*) to arrive.
I can assure you that if I knew that Tangoman was on his way to Charlton I'd be using a very different four letter word beginning with "f". Take a chill pill brother.

Well the 'Wise property empire' in Lion road Bexleyheath has finished another refurb, so obviously he has some time on his hands.......And I did see Keith Peacock going into Ferraris in Bexley village, this lunchtime ( hope you did not have the set lunch Keith, highly overrated!) I would not even feed it to your greyhound mate!.....

as Kap10 states a little knowledge...... normally means f**k all!

On a general point, why anyone would want to buy a very public, community vehicle in the first case such as a football club seems a bit odd given the majority of people who buy football clubs nowadays largely do so for egotistical / profile reasons.

Buy a club for say £20-£30M, get into the EPL within 3-4 years...sell to buyers for £80-£100M...nice little earner!

Have been reading some of the posts on here with some amusement, it must be the funniest thread yet on the takeover subject. Keep em coming, I'm not bored just yet!

I offered to buy a very public community vehicle once from the sunshine variety club but they wanted too much.

Well it could hardly be clearer. Peter Varney’s sent out a brilliant, barely-coded message.

1. When’s it happening? Christmas Eve? 24th December? No, “December 24”. Clearly this indicates a Qatar bid. If Varney were representing a “Christian” country, he would have called it “Christmas Eve”. If the consortium was British, it would be “24th December”. But no, he’s gone with “December 24” – exactly how they would write the date in Qatar.

2. “Show patience”. Why? We know the deal is supposed to be done “on or before “December 24”. What Varney’s doing here is to head off any impatience shown if the deal isn’t done by the next game. Why? Simple: that’s December 18. Ring any bells? The National Day of Qatar.

3. And finally, Varney states: it’s a “hugely complex process”. He’s clearly talking about the Khalifa International Tennis Complex, built by Nüssli Gruppe – who will obviously be designing the new East Stand extension.

FACT
Post of the year... a work of absolute genius!

More likely that they are worried that the new chairman's wife might be a 'Would Ya!'.......

• You've got to love this board sometimes.

"It's all very quiet." "Why the secrecy?" "Why don't we know anything?" "Why doesn't someone say something?"

Then PV comes out with a statement and it's all;

"What does he mean?" "Why's he said that?""What does he mean by that?" "Does this mean 2+2= 22?"

Hilarious and tragic in equal measure.
• Hang on a mo - I've got it.

He said "Have Patience" - that's a clue.

We're being taken over by Axl Rose.

Or maybe Harold Shipman.

FACT.

Or Take That.
• Not sure what PV is saying as he seems to take away with one hand what he giveth with the other.

''We remain on target for December 24'' Hey, that sounds positive and encouraging....

But ''the supporters have got to understand that it is a hugely complex process." Erm. The trouble is that ''hugely complex processes'' can sometimes prove too complex to be unravelled. So is he half-preparing us for a possible disappointment?

But he said ''we remain on target''.

Yes, but it's ''hugely copmplex'' so the target might be missed....

My head is spinning round and around, so I think I'll just settle down in front of the TV and watch us spank Brentford and stop worrying about it!
• Calm the f**k down, it'll be done or not done soon, and you can stop trying to be Moulder and Scully
