  • thing is when i go watch us play i end up spending a small fortune on booze, grub etc. Its not a case of it being 20 minutes down the road at 12 quid a pop...its a case of it being a week before crimbo and there being a whole host of games coming up where im gonna spend a lot of dough. rather save it and watch us play in the JPT on the tv. call me an armchair if u want but thats the way im doing it.
  • [cite]Posted By: paulsturgess[/cite]And as for moaning Southampton addick, I don’t moan or boo at the valley when we are losing, but a large proportion do, and a large proportion come on here slagging people off when we lose away

Congratulations for not moaning or booing at the Valley. I assume you save it up for internet forums.
  • Round and round and round.......
  • admit I am not going tonight or Brentford or Brighton. Tonight and Brentford are on TV whilst Brighton is a crap view on the first day back at work after Xmas. I am now picking and choosing away games. I could afford to go to all but don't want to. I went many, many seasons without missing an away game. Now I miss quite a few. So, does that make me a good boy gone bad, a disgrace, a glory boy ?
  • Well I've got all 3 booked. But not surprised people aren't rushing to buy.
Firstly, with the weather as it has been, you can't be confident they will be played.
Secondly, it's been difficult to get to The Valley to purchase tickets.
Thirdly, would you order by post, when deliveries have been effected and now you will have the xmas post rush ?
Fourthly, it's still bleedin freezing & people have other things occupying their minds.
  • Jesus. If you read my first comment, you will note that I acknowledged that it is not my place to criticise or question any one individual for not going to games, and I am not doing that and I’m not going to single you out Large so everybody stop taking it so personally. The point I am making is that COLLECTIVELY as a club our away support is poor for whatever reason, and that disappoints me, upsets me and annoys me as it presents our club as one where the fans are not that passionate and don’t care that much, and hence in a poor light. Everybody misses games and everybody has spells where they just don’t fancy it or are trying to tighten their belt when they could still make the game. The problem is that we always seem to have a larger proportion of those than any other club – surely every other team of a similar size to ours has the same proportion of fans who are middle aged with kids, or who are short of cash… whatever. But the only conclusion I can draw from the fact that we average a worse away following than these for no other obvious reason is that on the whole, we have a higher than average proportion of fans who aren’t as passionate about the club (or a lower proportion of fans who are, whichever way you want to look at it). I’m not singling anybody out, nor am I saying everybody should be a real die-hard go every game fan or they aren’t as good as me etc etc - I just want to see a filled away end at a big game so that players come out buzzing and up for the game, and people look on the tele and watch admiringly: “look at that, Charlton have got decent away support”. But they don’t, and we don’t. I’m used to as it has been like it pretty much forever, but it still disappoints me…
  • [cite]Posted By: Stewart[/cite]The Brentford 600 has to be wrong.

    From the OS

Arond 400 tickets from Charlton's 570 seats and 1,200 terrace places had been sold by Monday morning

Just read the bit in bold. 625 fits in with what was on the OS
  • Hahahaha! That is so clear.
Thank you IA for helping me out. I thought by reading that (although I didn't believe it) we had sold 400 seats and 1,200 terrace places.

Right I'm off to Luton, I will be the one wearing a hat with a D on.

    Again Thank you IA
