offy against orient i thought Martin was different gravy, abbott never really done it for me, he is a donkey, if he was that good a signing for this league surely the people with money to spend would have gone for him , like Brighton & Southampton

You'd have thought, but then nobody wanted Darren Bent, all those years ago, I remember Phil Thompson saying that Liverpool had looked at him and he was not good enough for the Premier League. Nobody went for Benson, yet he has proved that he is able to score at this level. We often have bought players that no one else wanted but they have proved to be a success with us, I even recall there was not a queue of clubs looking to sign Mendonca.

On that basis all our players must be shit because neither Brighton nor Southampton wanted them.

Stupid scapegoating from people who can't distinguish between a bad game and a bad player.
Already we've seen wagstaff, solly, mccormack, francis and benson written off this season and only this week elliot was the worst keeper in this division and described as non-league.
Get some fricking perspective.[/quote]
Spot On. if it's not Abbot it's someone else. Why do certain Charlton fans do this?
Don't think this isolated to charlton fans. It's a natural frustration that affects fans of all clubs. We all have differnt opinions and although I dont agree with many doenst mean they are twats. Grow up
You have the posiitves and the negatives and invariaby everyone bunches into those groups... you aso have the sitting on the fancers....
just the way off the world...
Cup draw at Barnet, so what...
Couldnt care less if we go throuhg our not, the league is my only concern til we are back in the Championship... and even then staying up will be the top concern..
There is a reason why attendences in football drop dramatically for cup games, its because they ARENT very important.
I have not read all the comments on this thread but im just on here to say i hate the title of this thread. I assume its written by a woman lil? Lil as in lily. I sat next to wagstaff the other week and he told me he refuses to read message boards as he would get upset reading bad shit... Hope to god pavel dont come on here. Not that i think he is great but jesus he aint played in ages.
Insulting and stupid titles do not lead to reasoned opinions about player performances.Pawel needs to lose some weight and get some match practice and then he wont be no worse or better than the majority of the current league 1 strikers.
Henry, soccer am is not a kids programme, they laugh and joke about football so it must be a kids programme, grow up. Pawel is crap,he won't do it for us this season and people are not TWATS for saying what they think about players.

Cos we are Charlton, super Charlton...cupboard end.
I don't think people are wrong in slagging him off, just in pretty much every game he's been involved in he has done very little. I don't think critcising a player who has been poor for the majority of games is that unfair.
last time i saw abbott play was at exeter and he was a total waste of space, his touch is terrible and i am years away from being convinced he's a useful acquisition... the difference with benson is that he often doesnt play that well (eg plymouth) but he scores goals so no complaints. abbott doesnt even score goals and i think akpo's physical presence is much more useful up front

Totally agree. I thought he would be better than he has shown so far, gave him the benefit the first few games, he seems to go through the motions and is not hungry enough. Now its obvious he is not going to be first choice he really needs to be giving more to try to break into the team which i hope he is able to do.
Yeah, let's slag him off . That way we can stick him on the list of players that have been cunted off by our own this year. Can't be that many left now.
Not been that impressed so far, but he's not been terrible. His record shows he has something to offer at this level, he's scored 3 and hit the bar yesterday. We've had a lot worse in recent years.
I think Parky got it right there when he said he has the tools to be a good player for us, but he has to work hard at it and look after himself.
Have to remember anyone younger and "exciting" (McLeod was supposed to be just that) would have cost a lot more, eg Le Fondre at Rotherham. With our 4 strikers Parky chose to go for a couple of frees, and a couple of fairly cheap older strikers. Only other option I can see was taking a gamble on a non-league striker (Pardew tried before and failed), a young Prem striker on loan (Fry shows we will if the right player is available) or a Championship reserve (again done that before, Sodje and Mooney).
With Abbott we've got someone we know should be capable at this level. Like Benson, I'm sure he'd look better alongside Anyinsah.

Can somebody please let me know what 'tekkerless' means.
It's not on Dictionary.com and I doubt it'll be a Countdown conudrum.
I also agree this title is a disgrace...
Ray winstone showed the presenters up when he said 'what's that?' And they had to explain it to him despite him following football for decades.

And I didn't call anyone a twat
He's had some good games and scored 3 goals. He's also had some poor games as well. He was available and is experienced.

Very good point, Mr Scoham.
