I am suprised ever has a poor opinion of peterboro. They just came down last year and have pretty much the same side that went up the year before I am told. We will have a better idea on this shortly of course

Will be interesting to see if Brighton keep their form going over the winter. I think they will but perhaps not so many comfortable wins.
Agreed. It's a cliche, but in the deep mid-winter, on a windy night in Hartlepool, on a near water logged pitch do they have the fight and the technique to impose their style on teams like they have so far? We went off like a rocket last year playing a very passing based game but we definitely suffered when the pitches started cutting up, although it was a pretty harsh winter last year but teams don't have the budget for pitch maintenance in this division so they will deteriorate even if we have a mildish winter.
I think Brighton may still be okay - Donny and Swansea have both got promoted playing good football - but the biggest test for Poyet's philosphy is yet to come.
The truth is we've no idea who'll finish where yet - weren't Sunderland 2nd bottom at about this stage of the season a few years back only to finish 2nd top?
[cite]Posted By: steveBHA[/cite]
[cite]Posted By: LenGlover[/cite]All the time Kish keeps going Brighton will be there or thereabouts. However at 36 can he do it for 46 games? Dailly managed it but central defenders have less to do than midfielders.
I think the main contenders are beginning to emerge although any of MK Dons, Oldham or Bristol Rovers could come through as well as Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth as already mentioned above.
However we have to concentrate on our own performance and hope and pray that we avoid injuries, suspensions and January offers to and for our key players.
If we can do all that then we have half a chance but there is a long way to go so my feet are firmly planted on the ground.
At the end of Feb we will have our best midfielder back from injury and if he can find form quickly we will be fine. You do realise that we are winning games very comfortably and Kish then gets taken off most games when the game is all but won? Also Gus is rotating our midfield? Poyet isn't stupid when it comes to Kish and his age. You are also forgetting we are backed by a millionaire so expect Gus to strengthen in Jan.Our chairman won't allow it to slip now(CafcAndy) or Gus.We are simply thrashing teams left right and center at the moment. This could change i agree but i very much doubt enough to threaten us not finishing in the top 6. Charlton don't have the players to over take us i'm afraid or manager.I firmly believe only two teams will challenge us and that's Saints and Huddersfield.
Pride comes before the fall, I do believe!
I hope Brighton do go up, they have had a horror decade and then some, I would much rather them than Southampton.

Well, you'll remember Brighton did exactly that to Charlton at The Valley last February......!
And Poyet was their manager.
But here's another cliche .........it's a long old season and anything can happen.
And generally does.
Yep we all called leeds's demise last season and look what happened they did falter but......
Oh they went up
And as the final third of the season approached we all said norwich may falter and err they pissed it
Brighton and soton may not be that strong but I can't see past them two really for the automatics
I think Charlton have alwaus had teh players, just haven't utilised them to best effect. The introduction of a physical, fast forward and beefing up the midfield has changed the side completely from that which lost at home to Brighton. They are going well, but it will be interesting to see how they react to a set back. I'm sure they will be top six, just expect it to get a lot closer than it is now.
I think five of the top six on Nov 2 are still in residence some three and a half months later, the only change being Bournemouth (whom were seventh back then, I believe) have moved up a few places and Colchester have slipped down.
Personally think it will be Brighton & Southampton straight up and then anyone's guess. If we are going into the play-off's I'd rather it was without Southampton and Brighton.

My top 5 before the season kicked off were :- Soton, Hudds, Sheff W, Peterboro, Charlton plus one of Swindon, Brighton, Colchester, Plymouth, MK Dons.
So, yes I think it's a reasonable assumption, that most of the final 6 could be already there.
I would say Sheff W will replace Colchester, but if Sheff W go into admin & are deducted 10 points, it will be a tall order.

The latter I think : - )
Very much a Jekyll and Hyde team, but may get it together for a play off place IMHO

66.6% of the then top six still there.
We've taken 25 points from 22 games since.
